I bought the PS3 version for 2 reasons:

  1. I didn't want to chance the Wii version using friend codes. So I just avoided the whole issue and went with another version. Does it use friend codes?
  2. Graphics. Wii looks like trash on an HDTV. Nintendo can't keep up with the times, so my money goes other places for the most part.
Conjuration
Mate, just because the PS3 version is better, that doesn't mean that the Wii version is bad. Friend Codes? Grow up, better than dealing with annoying little British kids online in XBL or Playstation network. And the graphics? ITS THE DEVELOPER'S FAULT, and yet again PS3/360 fanboys have failed to understand this time and time again because their fanboyism just blinds them from the truth. As a matter of fact, the graphics aren't bad at all, they're great and so is the game itself.

multi-platform games are usually the worst on the Wii unless you also count the PS2

From wha I heard and seen, some places like EB and Gamestop dont even carry the game. Some people complained saying that they were looking for the Wii version of the game and the stores didn't even know it exosted. The game has gotten decent advertising as of late, although I think they should have left the Zapper out of the commercial. Plus, the commercials do not tell you anything about the game. Most people like to be told what to buy. Since Wii only gamers have probably never CoD4 they don't know what to expect from WaW. So having a commercial where people are holding the zapper and some guy(in-game) is talking about defending his homeland isn't much information to possible consumers. They should have explained the game a little in the commercials. CoD:WaW for Wii is not like GTA or Halo or even SSB. Those games could have a commercial that doesn't even explain the game and still sell millions because people already know what to expect for the most part.

I'll try to keep it short:

Some retailers didn't know it existed, or just didn't order any copies.

Multiplatform owners will get the superior PS3/360 versions

Wii owners never got COD4

(I can't really blame the commercial; at least it had one)

Wii titles usually sell over time

i stay away from anything in the Call of Duty franchise.

Medal of Honor is so much better.

maybe that is a popular opinion among wii owners?

The sales in Europe and Other territories for COD: WAW on the Wii have actually been getting stronger every week. From 20,000 to 22,000. The sales in America are sustaining as well. The game has sold a quarter million, and is selling at a solid pace.

Wii needs exclusive FPS rather then ports. If The Conduit bombs we are going to be stuck with them.Ganados0

because mostly everyone who's into fps, has a 360 (like myself). cod:wow wasn't even all that great to be honest. cod4 is a lot better. this game was a downgrade for sure.

Well a lot of people I know seem to own the Wii with either a 360 or a PS3 -- so it seems that if they have an interest in that game, that they would more likely purchase it for the more hardcore appealing consoles instead of on the Wii. And gamers who own just a Wii, it likely doesn't appeal to everyone. Even so, hardcore Wii games aren't even really advertised on television or in newspaper/magazine adds as much as 360 or PS3 games, unless it is made by Nintendo. I still plan on picking up COD when I can, I can use a great new shooter. :-)

i think people have learned to hold off on buying wii games right away when they are available on the other consoles. so many times a great looking game gets ruined by bad motion controls and friend code multiplayer. i have codwaw for pc and im really tempted to get it for wii too. nazi zombies are also huge.

But still...the Wii version is great even though the PS3/360 versions are better. The best part of the Wii version is the controls, they feel all smooth and intuitive.

The Nazi Zombie mode wasn't left out you get to play it after you finish the campaign.

Not really if you play without a Wii Zapper it's kinda hard to aim. but overall the controls are ok for me it toke me sometime before I got used to the aiming and stuff without the zapper

You think friend codes are ok? I don't see how anyone in their right mind could possibly defend the use of friend codes. Friend codes have just about gimped my Wii to the point where the only thing it's good for is downloading VC games. Friend codes might be good if you have 50 close friends who own Wii's and all have the same tastes in games as you. But if you're like me and have absolutely no one to exchange friend codes with, it just kills alot of the fun in owning a Wii.
The online component of the Wii's online games has been taken away from me.

Well, you have people in Gamespot and Youtube to exchange friend codes with...it doesn't have to be people you know. Nintendo doesn't want to be responsible for anything bad happening online, thats why there are friend codes for people you can trust. And you did mention that the graphics of the Wii version are bad..in which they're not.

I never said the Wii versions graphics were bad. I'm just saying: graphics on everything else > Wii grahpics. That's not an opinion it's a fact.
Hardly debateable. CoD WaW probably looks good for a Wii game, but in comparison to the others, I'm sure it's no contest.

But back to friend codes. Ya, I can go online hunting for people to play with for every single game, but that takes time. And if I'm running around chasing random starngers to play with, that dosen't protect me from jerks and from "bad things happening online." It winds up being the exact same thing, it just takes me longer, and alot more effort to get almost the same result. I say "almost" because no matter how you slice it, I'm still not going to have the same variety of opponents I'd have on a PS3 or 360. It's a really poor safety measure.
The only thing it's protecting is me from using my games multiplayer capabilities.

This is how I see it...undersupply. I can't find the game for the Wii when I go to game stores, but I see plenty for the PS3/360. I only have a Wii and won't be getting anything new until I see a significant price drop so....I'll get it for the Wii...eventually.

How is 200k poor for a month worth in sales???? Poor is only determined by the people who set a sales goal my friend. If their goal was to sell roughly 200k, it met the goal. If it didn't, but was close....that's still not poor.

And you're not even taking the biggest sales period of the year, especially in the Western market. XMAS!

LOL, you can't be serious. The 360 can't handle FPSs. The Wii is far superior for those kinds of games. The controls are so much better. What does a 360 have to offer other than dual analog? The Wii is the best for shooters, and World at War proves it.

The PC version looks better than the PS3 and 360 versions if anyone wants to cry about graphics. The Wii controls for this game are good but not great. Maybe when the Wii Motion Plus comes along CoD:6 will be better. It will probably never be as good as arcade shooters or just using a mouse though.

One thing I noticed earlier tonight is your breathing affects how steady you can hold the Wii remote. This is kind of cool. And unless arcades have the guns mounted to a tripod, I don't see why the Wii remote can't be just as effective as related arcade games, though the Wii version can be more realistic. Does the Zapper help you control how steady your aim is? I agree that the COD:WAW controls could have been done better.

People buy the Wii because its another way to spend time with their familys (with Wii Sports or Mario Kart), chances are that the family wont be playing No More Heroes and Madworld together. The Conduit is not even out yet so we don't know how well it will do, and Mario Galaxy is a family game as well.

Mario Galaxy is hardcore like every single Mario adventure game, as I recall, doesn't the 360 and ps3 have family friendly games like little big planet, viva pinyata and brade?

Doesn't really matter to me. This game was probably the best of the Holiday season for the Wii. Perhaps the only competition it had was Skate 2, Shaun White and Animal Crossing (In terms of score).

Generally the multiplatforms will sell less on the Wii, most Wii owners wouldn't even buy something not called "Wii something". Ironic, the Wii has so much more consoles sold, and yet can't compete directly with the other consoles.

I am pretty sure it has good sales now. After looking at the surge of Christmas noobs online, it is undeniable the game sold. The servers crashed because there were too many people.

[QUOTE="Conjuration"]

Pices
Mate, just because the PS3 version is better, that doesn't mean that the Wii version is bad. Friend Codes? Grow up, better than dealing with annoying little British kids online in XBL or Playstation network. And the graphics? ITS THE DEVELOPER'S FAULT, and yet again PS3/360 fanboys have failed to understand this time and time again because their fanboyism just blinds them from the truth. As a matter of fact, the graphics aren't bad at all, they're great and so is the game itself.

yes u right. The graphics are all round identical to the other parts. The textures suck hardcore...but thats it.

The first time I saw the game I misread the title as, "COD: World War Wii."

Various reasons. People with a 360 too probably picked it up for that. No split screen multiplayer. People are still scare of Wii FPS controls...even though they are much easier to use imo, some of my friends can't keep the cursor centered on games like Prime 3...they say it's too hard... I know embarrassing. Plus I seriously think sales for this game are under tracked, Best Buy and Circuit City around me keep selling out of the Wii version as soon as they get it in, I still haven't been able to find a copy near me :(
