It seems like everyone hates playing the wii online. Like they game for it sucks, the expierence sucks blah blah blah. Personally, they only thing really missing is voice chat. Some way to talk to fellow gamers would be nice. But other then that, not every game needs to be online. We dont need to have 20 FPS online. Yea, maybe a few more games for the Wii, but they are coming. Soon there will be racing and fighting to go with the other ones. I never have a problem getting into a game while playing Strikers, and it is one of the most fun games to play online.

Bwii is fun, but does lack some stuff, not nintendos fault. Medal of Honor is good, not as good as some of the other ones ive played, but hey, there is no lag and good controls, which wii mote is easier to use once you get used to it then any game pad. But how many of the same games do we need online. Is lego star wars really that much better, or do u really need to have someone else collect star bits for you?? It is Free and lag Free most of the time, how can you go wrong.

The only issue I have with the Wii's online is that not very many games support it, and sometimes lag is a problem.

Its by no means "bad" though, its about on par with Playstation 2 online.

The whole friend codes thing doesn't help matters either. Seriously, I'm supposed to memorize my [random] 16 digit number so I can tell it to my friends, and then remember their numbers so they can be added to my list?

The combination of the friends codes and the lack of online games probably adds to this. Expect a general change in opinion once Super Smash Bros Brawl and Mario Kart Wii come out.

Because they want Nintendo to copy Microsoft that's all. As for me, I don't care. I really don't believe on online gaming on consoles. I'll play on SSBB and Mario Kart online. Online gaming for me is on PC.

If Sony can provide a great online service for free, so can Nintendo.

nintendo has friend codes... i believe the ds had voice chat (not sure...) so i dont understand why the wii doesnt.... the wii doesnt have many online compatible games out...(i havent seen many).... sure it is free (which is probably one of the only pros IMO)... but that cant exactly cover for everything else that we're missing (or the useless stuff we already have..)

I'm not really sure but I've only played 3 Wii games online, GHIII, Medal of Honor Heroes 2 and Madden '08, so I haven't had to mess with friend codes. (GHIII does have friend codes BUT you don't have to use them if you do a random match.) MMHH2 btw is a lot of fun online. There are no friend codes to mess with and it's lag free. Voice chat would be nice but since I'm playing with a bunch of people I don't know it doesn't bother me. Besides Nintendo has said that voice chat is coming this year but they need to confirm the design of the headset. I bought the Wii in large part for the potential of the controller for FPS & third person shooters and between MMHH2 and MP3 and the Godfather I couldn't be happier. Of course I'd like to see more quality titles like these (RE5, GTA IV, anyone?) so here's hoping they'll come. Oh, Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is supposed to come out later this year so maybe we'll have another great online title for the Wii. (Madden '08 is laggy but from what I understand it's a problem with EA's servers. Too bad because Madden on the Wii is sweet.)

Wii isn't meant for online gaming and that's why Nintendo does not support it with a real network or require publishers to make their games playable online. It's the everyman (woman, child, etc.) system. For every one person that has it hooked up to an HDTV with a good surround system there are probably at least 10 people playing it on a 27 inch tube RCA. And yes, I also appreciate having a system that I can buy games for and just be a player and not have notifications popping up and endless fragging going on. Not that I'm against XBOX Live or PSN, I love them. It's just nice to take a break from the online scene once in a while.

I have online for my wii... but I can tell you this... the wii does not need online at all... they games are too much fun as it is... and it's not like its final.. the wiis online will change.. like they will end up making a headset for voice chat, and more great online games will come out... but for now... just enjoy what the wii has to offer... Its not like they are charging you to play online

You mean you don't believe IN online gaming for consoles? That sounds weird. I think games without online are primitive. Always having to play against the same lame AI gets boring. All games should have some form of online by now. Nintendo is just behind everyone else, and they are always playing catchup.

I think its fine for the time being. I mean a few more games, voice chat (in my dreams), and a friend list would be cool.

Right now some of the games are still pretty tight though. I think guitar hero 3 and super mario strikers are pretty good.

I also have medal of honor heroes. Thats fun and its cool to play online, but likes others have said once the thrill of realzing i'm playing an FPS online is over, it gets kinda repetative. And to tell you the truth is could use some major improving. It takes like 20 hits to kill a dude, and also its hard to tell when your hitting him or he dies. The gun and the light created when firing takes of most of the screen when looking down your sights. And the guys look plain retarded when they're walking around.

Yeah don't worry, in a few months when there are better games like mario kart and super smash bros, and hopefully some new features as well, people will stop complaining.

Playing catchup? Look at the sales charts and THEN say Nintendo is playing catchup...

i like the wii online, granted it is limited but its a work in progress. When headsets and such start to come out it will be sweet. I also like the fact that is free, that alone makes it good in my book.

I think they could actually get by with what they have if they just added headsets. The system is not up to XBox Live standards but it gets the job done. The voice chat would make all the difference IMO. Chatting with friends before and during games only adds to the experience. MAKE IT HAPPEN NINTENDO!

Basically, because it's lack of voice chatting, it's friend codes, and the lack of games supporting it. Which I don't find too bad at all.

Well the only thing I dislike is the lack of GOOD online titles and the fact that you must use friend codes to play with someone

friend codes suck super monkey balls. i hate dealing with them. i don't have many other friends with wii's and i would just rather the online experience resemble something a little more like Halo. Nintendo should take a leaf out of their book when it comes to online gaming. i've had Mario Strikers Charged since the day it came out, yet i've never played a match online with anyone because i have no friends to share my friend code with. and that's really really lame in my opinion. the only game i've ever played online w/my Wii is Guitar Hero III because it's the only game that i have that allows random matches with players.

Come on! You have to type in a few numbers, not donate a kidney. Would you rather have less games that were online, or less friend codes to type in?

that's what they originally said.

I don't care much for online, but Mario Kart and Brawl have it, so I won't have any need to complain. Friend codes suck though, the only thing that's annoying.

Personally, I love it. Mario strikers online is the best, you can't get Nintendo games online anywhere else! But one thing I think they are doing wrong is having separate friend codes for all the games. Why can't it be when you exchange you Wii code with others you can play the games with them also? Not a separate code? It's just stupid. MP3 did it...

are you stupid? No one could even figure out how to set up PS2's online mode...Wii is incredibly superior to it...these are why people hate the wii's online:

No ranks

No ladders

No achievments

NO VOICECHAT

I got a wii cause my PC is way better than any X-box or PS3 on the market...PC's could never accomplish what a wii could do. (oh yeah and I really want SSBB)

ssbb online is pretty primitive, like maybe 7 or 8 years in the past. no leaderboards, no voice chat, no custom games, no hosting games, NO NAME HAHAHAHA. seriously though its gonna feel like taking a time machine back to the dreamcast ages.

its basically just hit a button and get randomly parried with a few ppl whose names u cant see, and if u liked them u cant record them, and then never see them again, or maybe u will, u really wont be able to know.
