... If your first online experience was MKDS then you should go multiplat, you`ve missed out on a lot :PtomarlynHe said it was Nintendo's first experience with online... I have no doubt that since the topic creator is ragging on the incompetence of Nintendo's online system that he's well-experienced in what other systems have to offer. Though to respond to the topic, I completely agree. Nintendo really needs to step things up a notch.

Nintendo really needs to step things up a notch. well, thats partly true, i had played online games on my friends systems, (halo 2, madden 06, mlb 06), however the only systems ive owned, were from nintendo....
I could always find an opponent, but as soon as I started winning, we would lose connection.... EVERYTIME.dilmosMaybe the reason why you were losing connection as soon as you started winning was because your opponent didn't want to lose? Happens to me all the time in Mario Kart...
Wow... another online/friend codes/nothing will ever satisfy gamers/ thread. I myself was pretty happy with the DS' online system and I don't expect the Wii's to be that much different. I don't really want Nintendo's online system to be just like XBL (which apparently most of you do) because if I wanted that, I'd pay for it. I bought a Wii for the great new way of playing, and some of the online bonuses are nice too, but so far there aren't even any Wii games I care about playing online. I don't see why it's such a deal breaker for you, especially if you have a PC (which I can only assume most people here do) which is THE machine for online gaming, period.

I get most of my online gaming fixes from my pc and I have tired of that recently, besides which I do prefer playing my family of friends so online isn't what I am waiting for.Â
But I will agree that I feel that true gamers are being left out of the picture here while all effort seems to be going into getting Mrs Miyamoto to play games apparently, the whole touch gen annoyed the hell out of me on the DS and now it seems to be happening all over again on the Wii. Im glad they are attracting new gamers although my wife has been gaming for years anyway and even she is complaining about the lack of traditional games on the Wii, and the lack of any info to show they are coming.

One statement in the post above me confuses me. How do people think that you have to want online play to be a "true" gamer. I don't care about online play, but I consider myself a true gamer. I love playing games like Zelda, Call of Duty as well as Monkey Ball, Mario or Wario Ware. Anyone that plays games is considered a gamer, there's no such thing as a "true" gamer. smileyryder34
A game doesn’t have to have online to be hardcore at all IMO. Nintendo has been making some of the most rewarding games for hardcore players for a very long time now:
Mario Bros series- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J31klTM6q78&mode=related&search=
Metroid series- http://youtube.com/watch?v=GEMxn8hWnaE
Mario Kart series- http://www.world-of-holy-moly.de/MarioKartDD.htm
Smash Bros series- http://youtube.com/watch?v=4n4s5yB7ZkE
I see where you're coming from though, online just isn't a big factor for me.
The hardcore stuff is coming, just wait. Nintendo is trying to make a name for itself for being noob-friendly out of the gate to attract more costumers, then they will realese that hardcore stuff. FireEmblem24they better do it fast.... or at least start to release more VC games, that are actually good, (Super metroid, super mario RPG, etc.)
I would say people nowadays won't play a game simply because its on another system more than online. I've seen so many people who refuse to play X game because its on Y system. Gotta love blind loyalty.

It's not blind loyalty. I own a Wii, I don't own a PS3 or a 360. There are games on those systems I would like, but I'm not going to go drop $600 on a PS3 just to try something out.

What you are trying to say is good, but there is one flaw that you need to understand.yeah, but how many of us hardcore gamers want online play? i can guarrenttee you 90% of them do, thats all i was saying
Online Play does not mean you are a "hardcore gamer"
