Why is the Wii's cursor so dodgy compared to Mario Kart's cursor?

On the Wii menu the cursor jumps around sometimes and reacts slowly, but when selecting modes in Mario Kart the cursor is smooth and reacts normally =/

You may be right:? Never really noticed that though. Don't have an answer for it though :P

The only time I've ever experienced anything like that was when the batteries were going flat in the Wii remote or when bright sunlight was interfering with the sensor bar. In both cases it would happen irrespective of what I was actually doing on the Wii.

I have too. The actual Wii menu pointer has always been so loose and sketchy, while in game menu pointers/ first person controls are so tight and smooth. I always thought that this would be fixed via firmware update or something, but it never has for some reason...

I think games reduce the sensitivity/accuracy of the cursor or use some sort of stabilization algorythm that doesn't exist in the Wii menu.

It's adjustable through software -- The Conduit actually gives you control over it (shaky but super accurate VS stabilized but less accurate).

never had any problems with the wii cursor. maybe it's because on the menu, you're too close to the screen (you're probably switching discs) and that doesnt let the wiimote work properly (you need a minimal distance). with mario kart, you're on a reasonable distance from the TV, sitting on your couch/chair, so the pointer will work fine
