Why toon link in SSBB?

Why did they put toon link in that game, like most every character in the game he is just a clone. I think that they should have put kid link back in and given him the ability to transform into the deku, goron, and zora.(similar to pokemon trainer switches), and for his final smash transform into the feirce diety. that would have been awesome

I would just much rather have fewer characters that are completely different thana lot of them that are all the same, do we really need 2 fox clone?

Maybe one day they'll make a fully customizable Smash Bros. with every Nintendo character so everyone is happy. :PUCF_Knight

That would be the day, all the cloning in that game just came across as very lazy design to me.

they have the same move sets and same final smashes, even though they may have diffent speed and power they are still clones, what these characters need are new and more creative movesets, thats why i like my idea for MM young Link. and Olimar is the best character EVAR!

Jigglypuffs final smash should have been putting everyone to sleep, and then getting PO'd that everyone slept through her singing and writes on everybody face, but jigglypuf doesnt have many multicolored slaves to throw at people.

thats because I am the only person awesome enough to use olimar effectively lol

that may be the case but i'm sure anyone (including me) can whoop you with toon link
even without the use of a final smash

I was never really fond of his inclusion myself (or ROB for that matter), i always thought it would be better to only have one version of each character, i mean there are series that aren't even represented yet but for some reason we have two versions of link when in essence they are both a representation of the same character. Link is my favorite character but i feel two versions kinda takes away from his individuality as a playable character, but that's just my opinion and it seems many people love toon link, but who's to say if he will stay or not since Skyward Sword link will probably be in the next game.

Toon Link is Miyamoto's favorite version of Link from what I remember hearing, so that probably has something to do with it.

Toon Link is really the main form of Link nowadays. Wind Waker plus all the handheld Zelda titles. Only exceptions are Twilight Princess and (now) Skyward Sword.

they wanted him in the game, and he is a pretty good character. but i agree, i would have prefferd young link with different powers.

well i guess he isnt a total clone, and if you want to unlock him (like i have done 2 years ago ;) ) either play through classic mode with link, or find him after beating the campaigne mode.

no one is an exact clone of anyone. falco wolf and fox are more different than each other compared to link/toon link. but falco should have somehow had an arwing final smash. "i'll take the sky any day".

i tried beating classic mode with link...doesnt work.. you have to beat the campaign first :P..and its long..i always get bored.

Young Link had kinda becomed irrelevant so they replaced with him Toon Link sense The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker came out 2 years after Super Smash Brothers Melee.

LOL! I use the Ice Climbers and they are actually pretty underrated characters.

That would indeed be awesome. Heck, if they did that, I actually wouldn't mind if they dropped regular link.

Sounds amazing. I wish they had a place where we could pitch these kind of ideas, maybe a site made by Nintendo.

Because Toon Link is awesome. :P
Many people will prefer Toon Link's speed and jump over Link's power.
And Young Link hasn't been in a console game since Majora's Mask. Toon Link has been in WindWaker, but SSBM was released before it.
If you haven't noticed, the characters are based on games that were released after SSBM or didn't have the chance to appear in SSBM.

Me, I use Olimar. He is awesome.

To get back on topic. They put Toon Link in because they needed a Zelda character that isn't in the bottom part of the tier list.

Jiggilypuff and Kirby do not play even remotley the same. The only thing they have in common is the way they jump.

Toon Link is my favorite, so I like him in. But cool idea too.

as much as I loved to use young link he was just a clone of old link, well actually he had fire arrows and was quicker and more agile but whatever. At least Toon Link looks a lot different than the old version.

Doesn't really matter though because I dropped young link a long time ago in favor of Ness (the desrtroyer).

Toon Link may have the same moves as Link, but he's most certainly not a clone.

But Toon Link is just the Young Link of this gen.

toon links my favorite version of link.

immediately after I got the game I played nothing but the campaign until i beat it. that campaign was so tedious and linear i was so relieved that I finally finished it. The only reason I played campaign was to unlock him. But its worth it because now toon link will be my main character.
