I'm more into the player reviews really. Gamespot looks at it "professionally". Players just look at it as players and the overall fun of it.

Variety of critics and then I take into account the gamers persperctive. I sometimes find that the gamer is a complete fanboy of the series, same with the critic so I render most of those reviews biased.

I usually just go searching for anyone with a Top 500 or Top 100 reviewer emblem (there's a list on fastesttruck's blog I think). I don't really trust Gamespot's review scores that much, there are a few shady reviewers who show a hint of biasedness and if I just go looking at player reviews for a game, I find that most of them are of extremely low quality, so yes, I usually just go and look for people who have a Top 100 or 500 emblem. If none of them have reviewed the game I'm looking for, then yeah, I just go and read Gamespot's since the quality is so much higher than the other play reviews (although Gamespot has tricked me more than once, LostMagic was terrible and they gave it like, an 8).

Critic reviews. I just like to look atgamespot'smedals and their pro's/con's. I also like to see how biased they are against Nintendo *cough MP3, TP cough* and how they arefor the360 *cough Halo cough*.

Probably critics. Gamespot usually doesnt give good reviews, and the player reviews are usually not very good. Sometimes there like a paragraph long saying how good the graphics are, or just down rightcritizing the game. Not all th eplayer reviews though, i may look at some that are longer andthe ones that I think are wellwritten.

I know, that happened to me with The Nightmare Before Christmas: Oogie's Revenge for the PS2. Gamespot gave it a 6.something and all the other review gave it 8.5s and 8.0s so I thought "Ah, I like TNBC anyways and if these people like the game so much, I probably will! Boy was I wrong

I like the gamespot reviews because they're strict. IGN is impressed way to easily. Player reviews are OK but I can't trust just anyones review. Just look at some of the Player reviews for NBA Live 08.

I would never ever take into account anythin a player reviewer says for any game because 95% of the time the overall score for a paticular game in player reviews depends on how many fanboys that game has.

Gamespot and IGN. I rarely look at player reviews. I hate the first couple of player reviews a games gets, they are almost always fanboys giving the game a 10 and having barely paragraph length reviews that don't help you at all.

Even though the Gamespot's scores may be low, they still have some very valuable and true info in the reviews. However, I go to IGN for Video Reviews. I still have a lot of respect for gamespot and their reviews, more so than Player reviews. Many player reviews are trash, while a rare few are really good. I'll only read the ones that are recommened by a lot of people.

I'd say it's kinda hard. Gamespot actually has some kind of proffesionalism about it and know what to look for in a game but they really seem to downrate wii games. Many things they rate at 6 or 7 I find to be 8's or 9's. On the other hand players can be total retards and completely disorganized like "I like this game cuz dis part waz good but the controls sukzorz but it still fun neway." So I usually just take the GS review and add 2 points to it.

I usually read major reviews (Gamespot, IGN, etc). Then I look at a few of the player reviews but specifically the lower end (without being rediculous) then at the higher end. I look at the lower end because it usually contains opinions of people that had their expectations crushed. Thus I get a good feel of what 'people thought the game was, but it was not'. The high end you will find the opposite (and fan boys), but sorting through them gives me a good idea of what the game is fun for. The goal of the high end / low end, is to make sure your expectations are right before you buy (a lot of enjoyment comes from your own expectation of the game / event).

I'll wrap it up by reading reviews in the middle in hopes of finding someone that takes good care of reviewing the games. If they like the same genre or games I'll usually check in on them once in a while to see if they have played anything that might appeal to me that I overlooked.

In short, I spend more time looking at player reviews (because there are more out there). It not only helps set my expectations but gives me a good feel of what the community around me really cares about.

For Wii games my top two reviewers are IGN and gametrailers. They both tend to over-rate games a tad but their gaming preferences seem to fall more in line with mines while at gamespot they give Metroid Prime 3 and Twilight Princess an 8.5 and yet they give Warioware a AAA score. WTF?!

player reviews - the point i'd use to highlight why is FF12 seemed to get pretty much unanimously great reviews, simply beacuse it changed the battle system, and despite the fact in terms of pretty much everything else it's the worst FF yet. Only the player reviews were willing to highlight the games weaknesses imo

Usually, I first check the critics/GS reviews. I never really liked the player reviews that much, it's way too biased for the most part imo.

Magazines and Website's reviews are based on how the game will be played by ALL of the consumers. Some of the score also gets bumped up a little for the "fan base" of that game. I never look at the reviews, i either go by my instincts or i just don't play them because they don't interest me.

I used to look heavily at player reviews, but what's sad is that they aren't as reliable because of fanboys of rival or competing titles. I've actually seen threads on other message boards where people ask that members go to gamespot or other player review sites and give it horrible ratings even if they've never played it. Pathetic...

So I tend to do a 50/50 now with the pro reviews (usually gamespot and game informer mag) and player reviews. Tends to work pretty well.

Even the recommended ones are sometimes terrible because fanboys recommend whatever review gives their favourite game a high score without even giving any thought as to what the actual content of the review says.
