My question is: my work has wi-fi but it is password protected. CanI use my dsi at work still? If so, where do I put the password?
If this is in the wrong forum, sorry, please move it.
Thanks.

If it's a work environment I would agree they probablyuse WPA/WPA2 encryption. If they use WEP, you're lucky. Otherwise, just get yourself a Nintendo USB WiFi stick and that should work *with* some tweaking.
To set up the connection, you'll need to go to your WiFi settings (Go to internet in the menu) and then go to advanced settings.
Choose the type of encryption the connection will use (there are around 8 choices from memory?). If the network is hidden, you'll need to manually enter the SSID, and of course the network password/key. You may or may not need to enter more detailed information than that. For example, I also needed to alter my MTU settings from 1200 to 1500.
If it is WPA/WPA2 encrypted and you've connected ok, you'll only be able to surf the 'net. You won't be able to access any gaming servers.
I got around my personal WPA/WPA2 encrypted modem (I refused to downgrade to WEP) by using the Nintendo WiFi USB stick. Even *then* it was a nightmare. The trick, I've found, for having a stable and reliable connection through the Nintendo stick is to boot the computer with the stick in it, otherwise it may or may not let you access the network if you insert the stick after the computer is booted. Mine is sort of hit and miss unless I boot with the stick in, and then I get about a 98% connection rate with minimal booting from the servers.
This is what came up whenI found the connection "This access point is secure"
"WPA-PSK(TKIP)" -then i entered the password- and it says
"Unable to connect to the access point. Check that the correct security key has been entered. For help, visit support.nintendo.com. Error code: 051110-1"
So, what does that mean?
You know what? I had found three connections i could use that my work uses. I kept clicking on the wrong one. I found the right one....hopefully.
Check the Nintendo support site for what exactly the error code means.
Check your passkey.
Ensure that the encryption on the modem is actually WPA-PSK(TKIP). Nothing in my paperwork for my modem or anything told me anything specific so I just accessed my modem settings, took a look around and found out specifically what it was. You may need to talk to someone from the IT department at your work, or figure out how to get more specific info.
BTW - it took me 3 hours to figure out how to connect my DSi to my modem, and 12 to get it to work with my Nintendo USB stick ('cos I just remembered I had to change some internal modem settings to let the stick connect to game servers - thanks a lot Nintendo for making that day one of the most stressful and irritatingdays ofmy life!)
Wait, so I can play games like mario kart ds when the router is set to WPA-PSK(TKIP)? I can't access it at that mode.Check the Nintendo support site for what exactly the error code means.
