This makes interesting reading. I have to say, if they could just port the technology onto a high definition console...they would be onto a winner!

They just optimized the Ds. You can still play all the games on both the DS and DSlite it's not anything new. A completly new ground up console is different.
I would not be upset if a "Wii2" came out it 2-3 years after all this system was not a lot of money and as long as it was backward compatible. If it's up date was just a graphic HD kind of thing I would wait for it to come down in price and buy it in 4-5 years time anyway.

The console in essence would be the same. Same design, same functionality, same connectivity and the same control scheme, but with revised and updated visuals. I love my Wii and just bought Mario Soccer which is awsome! but nobody can tell me that they werent a touch disappointed by the lack of visual enhancement between the Wii and the Gamecube?! And before someone goes off on one about 'visuals arent everything'... i know (Read my Blog), but they should have progressed at the least, rather than stagnating as they have.
I'd say they'd start the planning the second Wii in a year or two(actually they would so they could have the new console when the five year mark is reached). Console generations are five years long and although that moron at Sega thinks the Wii is made of fail and the PS3 is made of win just think about Sega's console success. In all likelyhood the Wii will last until the end of this generation.
I doubt it will happen, but i would noit put it past them. (After what 2 years they redesigned the DS, and now its rumored they are redigsining it AGAIN to have Larger Screens and a more "Adult" look)quetzalcoatl45Are you kidding me? I JUST BOUGHT ONE ON SATURDAY!

Do you have any about what you're saying?
Well of course Nintendo would make another console in a couple years, don't they always?:|
EDIT Wait this guy came from SEGA :lol::lol: lol Dreamcast :lol::lol:
Ok i'm serious now. Personaly I don't think we have yet to see the full pontential of Wii you know the Wii that's suppose to be greater than than the XBOX 1(graphicaly and tech wise)I do think that we will see the next Nintendo console first but it will be in 4-5 years not 2-3.
Just so were clear on this Wii's lifespan 4-5 years PS3 and 360's lifespan 6-7 years IMO

You do realise that a more powerful Wii will not change the way your Mario Strikers will look like, right? The Wii is capable of amazing graphics, but if a game looks crappy you should blame the developers, not the hardware.
And even if they did make a more powerful Wii, the games released won't take advantage of that for one reason: the older Wiis wouldn't be able to run it. :|

Thats a handheld, you ever heard of this thing called the Gameboy. Redesigning handhelds is what nintendo does, that should not be a surprise. i doubt that they will be redesigning the Wii, it would only show weakness like Sony and MS are.
y the hell would nintendo redesign the wii?
they only redisigned the ds because it was big compared to the psp. the wii is freakin tiny compared to the ps3 and xbox360. n theres no point in upgrading the wii's graphics rite now because we havent seen the wii at its best yet. IMO TP looked awsome, but it was a port from the GC. the wii is supposed to surpass the xbox in graphics and tech.

It's possible i suppose that the Wii may have a cosmetic facelift in the same way as the Playstation 1 to psone, Playstation 2 to Slimline ps2 making them smaller lighter perhaps reshaped during the mid point of it's life cyle to boost sales but as i said we won't get a New generation console to REPLACE the Wii for the reasons i stated. I've also been thinking that the Wii and the VC may be a sign of this to be the last backwards compatible console.
This is because as Sony found out you have to combine the Cube,Wii and the next development into one box and therefore become expensive. Nintendo doesn't want expensive consoles so the Wii will be around to play all your Wii,cube,n64,snes,nes,genesis etc but the next innovation will probably be stand alone. The next innovation may be so unique that the Wiimote may be obsolete perhaps, for example motion sensoring becomes so advance that your body movements control the game. Look at Microsofts new (DS in a table.AHEM) Touch sensistive computer in a table where you look down on a touch senistive screen and move icons with your finger (cool) anything could happen!
