(About 1) Yeah same thing.
Have you guys seen the World of Warcraft, Warhammer Online, Starcraft, Crysis, etc. trailers?
They are REAL trailers, that get you excited about the actual game"
Only for those who are already interested in those games. They don't appeal to 99% of people. You could show supposed good commericals to several hundred thousand people and guess what 99.999 of people wouldn't know what the commerical was about. The wii commericals on the other hand they know.
Generic soundtrack soundtrack? You obviously have no idea who the Yoshida Brothers are.
Nintendo has already won several marketing awards for their Wii commericals.
Do you know how much Nintendo spent on marketing the wii through 2007? 200 million the largest Nintendo marketing campaign ever. They have spent far more advertising the wii then any past Nintendo console.
Guess what most people who bought the wii and have heard the name had no idea it was from Nintendo. They don't care what the name is it's catchy. Revolution would never have caught on.
Nintendo knows far more about successfull marketing then any stupid little whiny gamer. Those commericals you fap to are considered failures in advertising since they don't attract new buyers at all. The wii commericals on the other hand attract people who have never bought a video game console.
As an adult, I don't care.
If I was a kid right now, those commercials would really turn me off, playing games with my parents? Ew. Watching my grandparents take up my game time playing wii sports or wii fit? Ugh. No thanks.
But I'm an adult now, so I don't care.
Still better than the 360 and PS3 ads.
Xbox 360 wastes a couple minutes showing us people jump roping or throwing water baloons saying "Jump In." What's that half to do with games?
Then we can go on about Sony's weird ass "white room" commercials particularly the possesed doll commerical that gave everyone nightmares. Sure didn't make me want to buy a PS3.
Yeah the Wii ads are getting old. They're good in that they show people playing the games and not a bunch of symbolistic, subtile crap but it's time to get a new campaign.
I thought that the PS3 had worse commercials :?
The only Wii commercial I never liked was the Resident Evil 4 wii commercials....

Effectivity and appeal are two completely different things. That's what's mixed up in this thread. People are defending Nintendo because their ads are so effective, while I'm sure the TC simply meant they are damn annoying. And they can be both.
I did find this PS3 ad pretty cool though. http://youtube.com/watch?v=RYy6yUd8H28
The TC felt that they're not realistic, which he found annoying. At least, that was my understanding of it.Effectivity and appeal are two completely different things.
