The wii had dlc since last year. This is just about streaming from the sd card. That just means maybe bigger games are coming. This is really nothing though, since game makers are using dlc to make you pay for what is already in the game. Just look at tiger woods 10, the wii gets all the course, while the 360/ps3 versions have less but you have to pay a whole lot more for the full game. DLC is only going to get worse. This is good for wiiware, but bad for retail games.
Downloadable content is only bad when developers misuse it. Like forcing you to pay extra for elements that should have been included with the initial purchase, like levels, or game modes that were taken straight out of the game and offed as DLC. It's only in those cases when DLC is bad.
When it's used to add actual new content, however, it's great. It's too bad occurrences like that are pretty rare, though...

It is when it comes out the same day as the game releases or a day later and clearly could have been on the disc or in many cases is actually on the disc and simply has to be bought to be unlocked. Yeah DLC was a good idea on paper, until developers decided to nickel and dime consumers with it. Basically to get the full game these days you have to pay extra, DLC is a broken system and the more it becomes a standard practice the worst it will get.
The ugly side of DLC is when developers start intentionally leaving things out of games just to charge for them later. Pay extra to play as Mega Man's Rival? I think not.

This, and it happens a lot more than people probably think. It's pretty strange how a lot of these newer games have DLC available pretty much on the day they are released or very shortly there after. Download content is one of the worst, if not the worst, new development to hit the gaming scene in a long time. It's a system built on greed pure and simple.

DLC is not bad, if you don't want it, don't buy it. That simple. agree with TaMuK... is "bad" when developers abuse it, and is not actually bad, they use the fact that some gamers can not resist buying DLC, so they make more money... :P and I do not care about GH series.... but this news :D:D 32Gb :) that is a hell of lot of space of VC and WiiWare :P also... 1. demo has hope 2. some DLC for some games would be NICE... I know it may be too late... but e.g. MH3. :)

Wii has had DLC for a long time now :? I don't get the big deal with this whole "Stream straight from SD card" thing.

ya but now we have large DLC downlaods, instead of just downloading 1 song at a time, you can download whole albums and multiple songs at a time. Now the Wii has full featured downlaods instead of small downloads.
