wii graphics question

does neone actualy know how many mb the wii graphics card has? or how much ram? i was just wondering because i think they arent telling us so we cant compare cpu,ps3, and 360 graphics card capabilities with wii's. also one more thougth if i may, if nintendo makes a hard drive couldnt they use the 512 mb of flash memory and convert it into more ram so in turn wii graphics and performance will be better? because with a hd who needs the 512? is this even possible?

The graphics on the 360 and PS3 are better. I'm fairly sure that the extent of the Wii graphics will be set as SMG for a long, long time.

im not saying it is close, i am saying the it just may be alot closer than we think, like is it a 128mb chip 256? what?

Flash Memory is very different from RAM. Unlike RAM, Flash is stable (meaning it doesn't need power to maintain), however it's also much slower, and has a finite number of write cycles. Thus it wouldn't function well as a substitute.

The amount of Video memory is only one of many factors that determine a graphics card's capablities. (you also have to factor the clock and bus speeds of the GPU, the speed of the memory, the efficiency of the architecture, etc etc)

Well, you could use it as a limited cache or buffer I suppose. Though put it this way: if I had a HDD plugged into the Wii, I would much rather dedicate a small portion of that to such a function. The reason being that Hard Drives write faster and (practically speaking) do not suffer from a finite number of write cycles. In fact most computers DO dedicate a portion of their own Hard Drive for just this. (here it's usually called "virtual memory")
