Wii is a next gen console. not "new gen" or "old gen" it's next gen, seeing as it offers the most dramatic differnce between gens since, N64 and snes. there have only been 3 great jumps in gaming so far: 1) playing a video game for the first time 2)ppl remember playing 3d on the N64 and using an analogue stick for the first time 3) ppl rember using the wii for motion control the first time. the rest inbetween and until the next leap is just "minor tweaks and improvements" that are nice but by far from essenial, i'd take perfect dark 2 on N64 back when i had a ps2 over a ps2 shooter anyday.

The Wii definitely is the biggest jump from last gen to next gen, considering that The XBOX 360 improved their graphics, while the PS3 improved their graphics and lowered their library.

No it isn't.

It's a current-generation system, just as the 360, PS3, DS, and PSP are.

It is physically impossible to own a "next-generation" system, because the term "next" implies that it is yet to come.

And why does it matter in the first place? Do any of these labels make the Wii any more or less enjoyable?

If I received a pre-release system (say I worked at Gamespot...) would I have a next-gen system?

Thanks, Mr. Anal Analytical, but you get the point.

The labels matter to me since I recieve constant crap on how the Wii is last-gen due to its graphics, and it severly makes me mad.

What reason do you have to be mad?

Fanboys will be fanboys. You can't stop them from being ignorant, and you can't stop them from bashing. If you get upset over things like that you won't last very long at all here on Gamespot.

You're most likely right. Its just I have to take crap since I like Metroid Prime more than Halo, and its outrageously frustrating.

Hello There,

I own 360/Wii/PS3. The Wii is definitely the #1 disappointment for this gen if your ask me. There are a few games, but not enough to pull me away from my 360 and World of Warcraft. This is coming from a MoFo who made the transition from Colecovision Adam to the NES back in '87. OMG Rygar. The Wii is nice, but the 360 is bettah. A pimped out gaming rig pc is ever BETTAH!!!! If you ask me, the best Wii game out there is the download of Samurai Showdown. That game still PWN's most games and it was released back in teh mid-90's. That is all.

Uh dude. I'm pretty sure that's trolling. And 360 isn't better for those of us who prefer a little thing called genre veriety. Where's my action adventures? My platformers? My niche games? Yeah. FPSs are great but they get a little repetative after a while.
