who here thinks pay to play will have something to do with voice chat for wii online?

hopefully it will bring updates for games like ssbb and mario kart

and who thinks animal crossing wii later this year would be the perfect way for them to launch such a service

and who wants to theoritically pay for online voice chat? i mean if its like $5 a month maybe.

but what else could they be charging for. i got to imagine a HDD is in plans for this year!

thoughts.

i really want voice chat but wii pay to play is a stupid idea. nintendo should stick with the free online and i think they should work on having a stronger lineup of good online games before they decide to do that. they already get good amounts of money off of the VC, which is an online service.

Honestly The pay to play thing doesn't bother me too much nor am I concerned about pricing or game sreally. I'll pay to play whatever I'd like to play. Mario Kart included although I don't think it will apply to that. I do feel, as you and IGN have stated, that Animal Crossing would be an ideal game for this service although I have zero desire to play the game and no excitement for it. However I recognize how many people enjoy it and how successful it could be for Nintendo.

As far as pay for voice chat? That sounds both very possible and terribly unlikely at the same time lol. I wouldn't know how to speculate. But again if they did charge for it I'd pay in a heartbeat. I'm just excited it's coming.

I think that if a game is going to charge you for playing online on a system that offers FREE online play, they will include some sort of voice chat, among other features. I bet when the first Pay to Play game is announced, a Nintendo or a third party headset will follow.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl is not going to have downloadable content, it is more or less confirmed here: http://wii.ign.com/articles/853/853748p2.html Also, Mario Kart is not going to have pay 2 play because it has the Blue Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection symbol. If the game is going to be pay 2 play it is going to have a Red or Orange Wi-Fi symbol (discrepencies between different sites on the actual color). Also, I do not think Nintendo is really going to use the pay 2 play online. I feel that was created so that 3rd party developers will have more interest in creating better online games with more options.

Pay to play sounds more like MMOs. Voice chat doesn't cost a damn thing, just look at MP:H.
