ya of course, thats why its one of the worst voice chat systems ever,
unless 3rd parties dev a headset.
This does sound like a start. The Nitendio Wii is lagging largely behind the Xbox360 right now, the other system that uses voice recognition. With that you actually have headsets, but remember it wasn't always like that. I believe Xbox first began with the microphone speark set up as well. Give it time and Nintendo will develop the same technology. I'm glad to see the Wii is finally making some progress.
I don't think they unveiled any voicce recogniton for COD5, but if they have plans to include it with this game it'll instantly become a classic for the Wii. Man...I'm already planning on buying this game, but if voice recognition is included I'll freaking pre-order this game.
Other game's I wouldn't mind seeing it on would be Super Mario Strikers, Madden 09, and Super Smash Bros. Brawl
[QUOTE="snowman6251"]AC and this come out in fall right? that means conduit and COD better use this. that will make their games far more successful. I expect conduit to do it. hope COD will toochang_1910
fall?? was this reveal?
I would like to know when is this comming...
I'm pretty sure they said AC would be availiable in fall this year
In all honesty, I thought it seemed like a fine solution to me. It's perhaps not as portable as a headset, but if you're playing a game, chances are you're in the vicinity of your TV, anyway. I've seen some people complain that this will make others be able to listen in to their conversations, but people can already listen in to half of your conversations (yours). I don't see the trouble of those people simply being able to hear the replies, too.
I also don't really see why noise will be a problem here where it wouldn't be with a headset. A headset uses... yeah, a microphone too. If you've got a fan next to you, a headset's going to pick it up too. And it also comes with the plus of not picking up the breathing of the person in question, which you can often get when a person is placing the headset mic too close to their mouth.

problems such as breathing and hearing ppl next to you are long gone this gen on the 360 and ps3, u RARELY never run into them,
however this mic will have a lot of problems with picking up everything in the room including the tv, fans, doors, ac, and everthing anyone else in the room says!
the worst part however is NO EAR piece, theirs just no excuse for that, having voice on the same output as the game is just awfull, ppls voices become very mixed up in all the action and that coupled with the fact the voice is coming out of speakers on the other side of your room will make it that much harder to hear, BAD IDEAS!
i dont see y ninty dosent just copy the 360 and ps3's voice chat systems! their cheap and basically flawless!

Like a lot of people, you're attacking the wrong point. Noise cancellation technology is pretty far advanced, I'm not worried about hearing ambient sounds in online communications, I'm worried that the sound pinpointing will be too inconcise, allowing distracting sounds to enter the system. In order to pick up complete family communication, the system will need to re-direct voice capture or expand to capture all sounds.
Either way, every time a dog barks, phone rings, or controller gets dropped, we will hear it. In a family situation, this is a big benefit, but in a singular situation, it is very distracting. It pleases the audience, not the consumer.

thats y this mic will be good for AC, but for games like fps its gonna suck!
however i bet 3rd parties will make a headset sone now that the software is in place, so it dosent even matter....

Well, we'll see how it goes, but quite honestly I still think that it will not exactly be as bad as people are making it out to be.

That depends on how the mic is built. If it's an array style microphone, then it should be able to filter out that along with most background noise.

Actually there's another option: channel the voices out of the controller's speaker.

WOW really nice catch!!!!
thats an excellent idea that, as far as i know, no one else has thought of all day!!!
I just hope ninty thinks of this idea and uses it!!!
Question, couldn't you just move the Wii Speak closer to you? Just put it right beside you and probably turn down the volume on the mic?brettneo3012
Yeah probably. Saw a picture of it on IGN and the cable looks quite long.
well, now high voltage wont have to work on a headset for the conduitBrunoBRS
I saw this on a blog earlier today, says the UK can expect it for about £15 by the end of the year, which isn't so bad, but if it sits under the tv will it pick up the voices? also are we going to see voice activated games now too?
