Generous score

snowman6251
this is one of the very few times I agree with Jason. Its not just generous though. Its bloated. Its downright outrageous.

i'm starting to feel annoyed that you, who still has to play the game, thinks that every reviewer is "overscoring" the game. if everyone gives the same (good) score, i highly doubt the game's not what they say.

Epilogue: The reviewer had to be on shrooms. End of story.

Nothing against WSR, but this is Gamespot we're talking about. GAMESPOT.

I was expecting an 8.0. I'm always right when it comes to critics and their scores though.deathofaninja
me too.Its gamespot, is casual title, no risk and it wont create ripples by giving it a high score. If it was a core game at the other hand....

My problem with Wiisports Resort goes like this. Wiisports resort is shallow. Its a compilation of several minigames. To me its nothing more than a tech demo like "hey look this is what a real Pilotwings game might be like" or "Zelda with M+ could play like this". Its just a demo of the M+, its not a real, full game by any means. What then bothers me is everyone treats this tech demo like its the greatest thing the wii has to offer and it has finally graced us with its presence. This game is going to sell outrageous amounts. This is fact. All the while great games like No More Heroes are sitting on shelves unbought. Now NMH is just an example I use out of personal preference. Not everyone has to like/buy that game but surely there's another real game out there being under appreciated while everyone and their grandma is buying Wii Sports Resort because they figure "oh this is the wii's next big game". Its not. Its not even close to a full game. Its just a tech demo. I will never understand how other people can just accept this crap because Nintendo says they should. Its a shame

I could care less what they rate it, I never trust a Gamespot Wii Review.

it's a nice game with a nice multiplayer. i still play the original wii sports, which can also be considered a tech demo. they are lots of mini games. but what differs wii sports from other minigame compilations is that wii sports is actually fun and makes you want to come back, just to play more. it's the perfect definition of "casual game": every now and then, you can turn on your wii and put it there, and you'll surely have fun with it. not to mention is $30 only. dont forget the motion+ is $20, and everyone will need one for each controller sooner or later.

I don't still go back to wii sports. Ever. I don't like the whole casual game fad. For me putting it in from time to time wouldn't be fun. I like games with long epic campaigns, great multiplayer (preferably with an online component as I can't have friends over all the time), a great story, and great gameplay. A game doesn't need all of the above to be enjoyable but wiisports has none of the above. I don't see it as a good game. I see it as the complete opposite, $30 or not.

Well, I suppose that makes you part of the minority here. Not that there's anything wrong with that in itself, but you're coming off as someone who's forcing his/her opinions on the games as facts that everyone should follow. The reason why Wii Sports Resort is getting the reviews and the attention it's receiving right now is very simple; the game is pure fun, and that's all a game needs to be to be great. The old Super Mario games didn't need to be long or have a deep story, and look at how they turned out. It's ok if this game isn't to your liking, which I once again think is a bit of a shame, but it's not fun to see someone express themselves and their feelings about something as if it's the only thing people should pay attention to. We get it, you don't care for the game and what it supposedly stands for, but there's no sense in having to ruin other people's potential enjoyment of the game.

i like everything you described in my games too. i'm just more eclectic, and like many games. i have alot of fun with every zelda and metroid game, and MGS4 is definitely on my "top 5 games of all time", but i can also enjoy the "pure fun just for the heck of it" from games like burnout paradise and wii sports. you can dislike resort if you want to. just dont say everyone else is wrong because of that. i definitely think the original wii sports got a fair 8, and still think the reviews i've seen are fair (except from gametrailers, that bashes the game during all the review just to throw an 8.6 later >_> if you bashed the game during all the review, give it a low score). dont forget that reviews are the OPINIONS from the professionals, and OPINIONS differ from one person to another.
