Every first party game contains a firmware update, and some big 3rd party ones too. New Super Mario Bros Wii probably has the most recent firmware on it.

This. New Super Mario Bros. Wii will update your Wii to v4.1, which isn't the most recent one, but it's more than enough.

True. The current firmware is 4.2, but that doesn't really add anything functionality wise, so you aren't missing anything important.

4.2 fixes a respawn glitch in The Conduit. 4.1 fixes a glitch in Wii Sports and M+. 4.0 added support to copy wiiware to your SD card. If you want the newest firmwware just get the newest game that has been released from Nintendo which i believe is New Super Mario Bros. Wii.

nope, u need to be connected. You could get one of those things that you plug in to the Wii's USb and then you can use wired internet.

I read somewhere that if you bring your wii to a gamestop they have internet and you could update it there. Just to be safe call your local store and ask em.

Haven't run into an entirely useful update yet. Don't see how a wireless signal enhances your Wii experience if you're like me and don't buy emulators or use Opera.
