[QUOTE="Sepewrath"]You know I will just ask this right here, for all those saying they need more hardcore and Wii games aren't hardcore enough for them and it needs people like Epic and Bungie developing for them. Explain what makes Gears of War more hardcore than Wii Sports. TaMuK711

Poor comparison to help your point. Gears has a storyline, local co-op, multiplayer online, and curbstompings. Wii Sports is a tech demo, which isn't a bad thing, I freaking love Wii Sports, but it doesn't take itself for anything other than that.

I intentionally picked Wii Sports and not something like Mario Galaxy just for the purpose of a response like this, well lets look at Endless Ocean, a storyline(check), online multiplayer(check) lots of games don't have curbstomping so that doesn't matter, so I guess thats hardcore, I think Cooking Mama has all those besides the curbstomping of course. You know what the point was? you people create this insane distinction between what makes something hardcore and what makes it casual

a story- even some of those mini game compliations have stories

co-op- most of them have multiplayer some even co op play

online play-Not the Wii's strongest point but even games like Bioshock, Dead Rising , Assassins Creed didn't have online so are they casual?

curbstomping? Are you even serious?

All your saying is why isn't the Wii filled with cliche rated M FPS and thats all, thats what "where is the hardcore" means and thats all it means, anyone can try and deny it as much as they want, but thats the truth. Any distinction you make , I will tear it down with ease, because they don't make sense.

[QUOTE="ragapan"]It matters to me because everyone is talking about how the wii is a babies console and that is because most of them games are casual and targeted for little ones which matters to a teenager like me but u are right i could just only buy hardcore games and leave the casual games out but its not easy with all those kiddie wii games u see advertised on tv lol u knowDDRMom

Stop worrying about what everyone else thinks/says and you'll find that you've matured a bit.
What do you guys have against games that appeal to the casual gaming audience? Not enough FPS titles? Not enough swearing or blood and gore? Difficulty too low? wiifan001
Really, I mean these children act as if they invented the video game and no one over the age of 17 should be allowed to play. Who would have thought that there would be this whole market of gamers that might actually have fun playing a non-violent non-FPS? Oh that's right...Nintendo did.

Why care what others think? The sooner you get past that, the more fun you'll have.

And, as a grown adult [I'm 38] ... I find there's plenty of `mature' games. Mature [in my book] doesn't mean blood + FPS ... in fact, that's more of glorified youth games to me. IMO, plenty of adults have friends who have been to Afghanistan or Iraq [I do] and shooters lose their romance [for me] when you see the reality actual bullets create.

I sure loved them in high school and college ... now that I'm grown, not so much.

[QUOTE="psychobrew"][QUOTE="Sepewrath"]hmm lets see people buy all that license crap while games like NMH, Madworld, The Conduit, Overkill, Deadly Creatures, De Blob etc you all that stfuff you consider "teh hardcorez" sit on the shelves and you wonder why stores have things like that on the shelves. Don't meaure a library by what you see on the store shelves check a game list every now and then and perhaps you would have a better awareness of what is actually available.Sepewrath
I don't concider those games "hardcore" though. I mean, are you really going to have competitions in Deadly Creatures? Even The Conduit, although it is the best FPS on the Wii and it is fun, did not deliver the entire experience. Iactuallity, most of the so called "hardcore" Wii games fail to deliver the entire experience.

lol I had competitions with my friends playing SOTC, and Mario Galaxy you can have competition in any game you want. But what is that the new meaning of hardcore, games you can compete in? Wouldn't that make every mini game compliation hardcore? The Wii would be the most hardcore system out there lol. This is why there is no such thing as hardcore and casual because the meaning changes every week. Going by all the meanings that have sprung up over the last 3 years, there isn't a hardcore game to be found on any console. Now what the Wii does need is for Capcom and SNK to get of there backsides, and collaborate to release Capcom vs SNK for the VC arcade.

You're telling me there are organized, sponsoredcompetitions for NMH? Competitions with your friends is entirely different and I'm sure you know that. There's a difference between playing baseball with your friends and playing competitively on a team.

First of all the Conduit is not the best FPS on the Wii Call of Duty: World at War, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption and Medal of Honor Heroes 2 are rated much higher. There games where the main part of the game is competition such as Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3,Dokapon Kingdom and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10. What part of "the experience" is the missing?

how dare you come onto this board and express your dissapointment concerning the lack of hardcore games on Wii!

If you were a real nintendo fan you would convince yourself that mediocre games are actually better than they really are, and you'd start defending the Wii's pathetic game library because it's "special" and "innovative".

what are you thinking?

Personally, I don't care how a game is rated -- it's just someone elses opinion against mine, and I will always go with my opinion before I go with someone elses.

There's a difference between a little fun competition between family and friends and competition at an organized event - is backyard Baseball the same thing as Major League Baseball? Tiger Woods 10 might have organized events, but Dragon Ball Z?

You complain, and yet you won't buy them when they actually come out. You sure had better buy Little King's Story this week.

blankshore

agreed. one major problem is that the hardcore games that are out for the wii arent being bought. Mad world, The conduit, and House of the Dead: overkill sold terribly. If people dont start buying hardcore wii games, then developers are not going to support the platform.

And that's because they aren't the high budget blockbusters available on other systems. People shouldn't be stuck with half hearted hardcore attempts.

Unfortunately game developers need to test the market with a small gamble before making these high budget blockbuster that you speak of. If we don't support the mediocre ones what makes you think the developers are going to spend big dollars?
