What do you mean by "show"? I think they will have some hardcore games on the showfloor and will mention them, although the conference will be mostly casual.
If you're wondering, yes, there will be hardcore games released next year.
09 will be just like 08...just as 08 was just like 07. Yet, some people seem to forget that. Last year the board was flodded with "Worst E3 ever" and "It was all casual games" topics.goblaa
Yet in 07 they released Metroid Prime 3 and the critically acclaimed, multiple GOTY winner- SMG...
I'm going to say no. E3 09 will be open to the general public again,.JAB991
E3 was never open to the public.

Which had been announced a year prior. The only thing big announced at E307 was Wiifit...wow.
Nintendo basically directly stated that they aren't going to be using the E3 for the benefit of the hardcore gamers anymore. As far as I can tell, they believe they did exactly what they set out to do at E3. So yes, I'd say that E3 '09 will probably be the same as '08.GabuEx
Exactly, they're using E3 to show off new ideas and ways to play, instead of showing something that everyone already knows how to play. For example, if they announce a new Mario platformer, we pretty much know what we're in for and don't need an explaination (which would kill the time they have at E3), but if they had announced Wii Music or Wii MotionPlus outside of E3, it would be hard to explain to the public what it's all about. That's why I think next year's E3 will be very similar to this year's, only having a handful of hardcore titles and the rest showing how to play new types of games.

You know what I mean. It'll revert back to being open to anyone who is remotely involved with the industry and will no longer be an invite-only event.

I have to agree with you goblaa. Last year's E3 was awful with the only real surprise being Wii Fit. But atleast they showed off some games (*good games) at that E3 like Metroid and possibly SMG, I can't really remember I spent most year trying to forget the event entirely. This year they didn't give us anything! Well... the new wiisports looks like a bit of fun, the motion plus is welcomed, and Animal Crossing looks... ok. But I still can't get over how they showcased Call of Duty for the Wii, if they were going to show off anything Third Party effort on the Wii it should've been De- Blob, Madworld, Tales of Symphonia, Dead Rising: CTYD, We Cheer... anything but COD~!

I hope not. There were way too many people at the old E3. The "real" media like Gamespot, IGN, etc could barely get time to play games. I remember back in 2005 or 2006, they had to wait hours just to play Twilight Princess for a few minutes.
The new E3 format is so much better, it's just that companies are taking it less seriously now that it's smaller.
I'm not too sure about a new zelda or mario for next year, but pikmin 3 is a definite given. It doesn't matter, by then i'll be busy with animal crossing and some promising 3rd party titles.mkDSpro63
I think they'll show some of the core titles next year but I'm not sure which venue they'll show them at. E3 may be just for the casual from now on. I guess we won't know until '09 or '10 when Nintendo's core games are ready. At the same time I won't die if the games don't come out next year or in '10 cuz I still have a life to live. I also have some promising 3rd party titles which look good.
