With GTA:IV postponed, is Super Mario Galaxy guaranteed Game of the Year???

I called Mario Galaxy Game of the Year with or without some of its competition, but GTA:IV was probably the stiffest competition. With that one out of the race...

If Bioshock lives you to the hype it's getting that's most likely going to be the game of the year.

I voted Battalion Wars II. If Nintendo can nail BWii down, I think it has a chance.

But Halo 3 will probably will probably pick up that one. It's going to be a good game andGamespot doesn't seem to like the Wii much.

Anyways, there's really no way of determing what game is going to be GOTY considering none of those games on the list have been released yet.

Nowing GS, SMG will be 3rd Pace for GOTY, with Bioshock #2 And Halo 3 a Distant #1.

True, we haven't played any of these games yet, but I'm confident that Game of the Year will be released closer to the end of the year.

I know Gamespot is biased to the 360, but this is a Wii forum so I give Nintendo a little more than fair shot. As good as I think they're going to be, games like Bioshock, Mass Effect, and Crysis probably won't get their due recognition. Neither will games from early in the year.

Well, the major gripe about the older ones was the graphics so I know that it will get like a 9.8 or some unbelievable score even from Gamespot who rate everything hard.

ORLY so Windwaker and RE4 didnt win GOTY? Because to my knowledge they did.

Mass Effect, Halo 3, Assasin's Creed, Bioshock and Galaxy are all prime meat for GOTY. Personally it would go like this

1. Bioshock
2. Galaxy
3. Halo 3
4. Mass Effect
5. Assasin's Creed.

oh I forgot about crysis. Put it after Galaxy.

Neither Halo: CE nor Halo 2 won game of the year, despite their having very high scores on Gamespot. In fact, the first XBox game to win GOTY was Gears of War last year. On the other hand, three Gamecube games have won GOTY: Metroid Prime in 2002, Wind Waker in 2003, and Resident Evil 4 in 2005.

Hey, if I owned a 360, I would love it, too. That's because it has such a great library of games. Gamespot isn't biased towards the 360, and they sure aren't getting payed off by Microsoft. Why some people have already assumed that Halo 3 will win GOTY with so many more likely candidates out there is beyond me. And if it does win, well, that's probably because...it's the best game of the year. Ya think?

Its always amusing how fanboys can call GameSpot biased towards Microsoft when they themselves are biased towards Nintendo.

The poll is too limited. There are so many other great games coming out that aren't on the list. Mass Effect, Brawl, and Bioshock to name a few.

Well put, "the other white meat" does have a quality library. Then, they get ports of almost all of the great PS3 titles. Sony may have the technical muscle, but they're learning that not many people care about playing crappy games that look spectacular. It's justa part of me thatthinks that GOY should go to the best game on the best system, which is the Wii.waw003

imo Wii60 is still the best system. i wouldnt be upset if it turned out that either system scored a goty and a runner up. just as long as A PS3 game doesnt get GOTY.

Yeah, Wii will basically disappear from GS.

I didn't even consider GTA IV to be a contender for game of the year, and if thereare any games Nintendo fans need to worry about as competitionthey would beAssassin's Creed, Bioshock, Mass Effect, Halo 3, and Call of Duty 4. Me personally, I don't even think Super Mario Galaxy has a chance, and I think the Nintendo game of the year is definitely going to be Super Smash Bros. right now before any of them are released I would say the field consist of

MP3, Halo3, Galaxy, Assassins Creed, Mass Effect, Bio Shock, Call of Duty 4. However that could change after the games are actually released.

1) With the graphical presentations of Mass Effect, Call of Duty 4, BioShock, or Assassin's Creed, they all better rock, or I'm dropping $500-600 on a better TV instead of another system.

2) With their strong releases, Wii or 360 should own all of the GOY nominees.

weird... i tried blinking as many times as i could to clean my eyes out.. but i still dont see SSBB on that list. Is this vote broken? I vote for SSBB if its not and im just seeing things. If you have seen the recent updates on SSBB then you would be too... mark it down.. SSBB GOTY.
