With GTA:IV postponed, is Super Mario Galaxy guaranteed Game of the Year???

Halo is completely overrated. I played the Halo 3 Beta (I have Crackdown) and it was more of the same except with improved graphics. The deployable arsenal wasn't that exciting and everything wasbasically the same. Halo 3 may win GOTY just because of the hype behind it (Just like Gears) but it isn't doing anything groundbreaking.

Why the *heck* is BWii on the list? Don't get me wrong, it'll be a great game (see sig) but there's no way it will top all the big names coming out this year.

Personally, I bet Galaxy will win for innovation, graphics, and having the Mario name.

I think the top ten would be like this;

1. Mass Effect

5. Guitar Hero 3

6. LoZ: Phantom Hourglass

8. Blue Dragon

BWii made the list cause this is a Wii forum, and from how Gamespot rates games, I think Halo 3 will be nominated.

I voted Battalion Wars II. If Nintendo can nail BWii down, I think it has a chance.

But Halo 3 will probably will probably pick up that one. It's going to be a good game andGamespot doesn't seem to like the Wii much.

Halo 3 isnt getting NEARLY as much hype as Halo 2 was. And Halo 2 doesn't have a goty now does it? No, it doesnt.

Your joking right? halo 3 is ten times more hyped then halo 2 was. This is the last in the trilogy (so they say)so all the hype is going to this game because its supposed tobe another step upand be one of the greatest games ever created. Also, this is why they are putting a 130 dollar legendary edition of halo 3 out which i already reserved because they know people are going to buy it no matter what because everyone who isnt bias against the 360 is extremely hyped for this game and knows its going to do amazing. GOTY. thaknk you.

Most people will disagree with me, and as much as I know the game will rock, SSBB will not win game of the year in my honest opinion. There have been fighting games that have truly rocked all forms of grounds but they don't win (a la Tekken 5, and I don't know about Soul Calibur as that was released back in 99, but it did score a perfect 10 :D), and with this years competition being totally tough, that pushes out SSBB further. Bioshock is looking amazing, and it's finally takenthe FPS genre into a brand new direction it was crying for, and what looks like excellently too. SMG is my definate favourite for a Nintendo game to take it, with the kind of under rated MP3 (from the rave previews it doesn't get that much attention) being second.

Halo 3 will definately be up there, the potential is huge,and I didn't see GTA IV really grabbing it anyway. Mass Effect is also up there, alongwith plenty more

well i woould choose mario galaxy. but if you look back at all of gamespot's GOTY's, NONE of these franchise's past entries are GOTY. (i might be wrong though, i just remember looking it up and not seeing anything from mario or halo or GTA).

Halo could win the GOTY and I would not even care. Halo is overrated in my book. I never understood the hype of this game. It's merely a Power Rangers with a gunwho kills some aliens and can ride some vehicules.

I didn't care on any GameSpot's GOTY in the past. Super Mario Galaxy is my game of the year nothing more. Next year, I have a feeling it will be Spore as my game of the year. In 2002, Metroid Prime won and I didn't play it until 2003 and I bought the game in 2004. Zelda: Wind Waker won in 2003. I played like any Zelda and I didn't turnit into my Game of the year.

im dead serious about halo 3. It isn't getting nearly as much hype as 2 did. Good for you if you enjoy the "Simple Man's Shooter" that Halo is, the only thing that i want from Halo 3 is the conclusion of the story, that was started in Fall of Reach (Yes i have read the novels) and i won't have to pay a dime for that.

Prime 3 will be my GOTY, with Mass Effect or Bioshock in a close 2nd.

I still highly doubt that Halo 3 will get goty, its just simply not the Best game coming out this year, and if 05 was any indication, Hype (in your opinion not mine) and Buildup,a GOTY does not make. Halois Not it.

I honestly think that for GOTY it will be a very very close fight between Halo 3 and Super Mario Galaxy. Both games will fight for supermacy but only one will win.

Also how can you not have put Super Smash Bros Brawl up there on the list?? For all we now that game alone could outsell both games. I mean ppl (like me) have been waiting like 6 years for a new Smash Bros game.

no Wii game will win game of the year because the graphics are less than half as good as the worst 360 games, and however great the gameplay is graphics still counts for a big chunk of how good the game is. and that is why there are what.......3.....9.0 or higher scoreing games on the Wii

and as far as the Wii having as good or better games comming out, the Wii has what 10 even mentionable games only 4 of which will probably get a 9.0 score

and 360 has halo 3, assasins creed, mass efect, bioshock, Rock band, 2 worlds, Blue Dragon, PGR 4, lost oddesy, Tom Clanceys End War, HL 2 orange box, Conan, turning point fall of liberty, CoD 4, Mercinarys 2, Army of 2....shall i keep going?? at least 10 of these will be 9.0 games or better
