Worst mario game? (main series)

just curious as to what everyone thinks is the worst game in the main series (no mario hotel, party, strikers, sluggers... ect, just the main series)

for me it would be sunshine, then new super mario bros

your thoughts...

Sunshine for me. Fludd was just too bad for me.

SMB2 was good. It's just originally it's not a Mario game. I would have liked to see the 3rd mouser from Doki Doki Panic on SMB2 over Clawgrip.

my thoughts exactly. The game was finished and the Mario characters were slapped on literally at the last minute. It doesn't hide. Super Mario Bros 3 was the biggest comeback in gaming history.

Anyone who says Sunshine either 1)didn't beat the game, 2) thought it was too hard for them (not a broken game, btw, just too difficult for most), or3) is following the popular opinion.

That game is hardly the worst in the series.

Take away the nostalgia, and SMB1 is technicallythe worst of the series. Every game since then has either improved upon, or veered away from, the original.

For example, SMB2 (Doki Doki Panic clone), while a completely different game from the first, still technically had improved gameplay.

Now, if we're talking about the game that you personally found to be the worst (as in, you had the least amount of enjoyment with the game), I would probably say Galaxy. Way too easy to enjoy as much as the rest of the series.

That doesn't mean that I don't like the game. It's just like saying "I prefer ice cream over cake", knowing that either way, you're going to be left with a good taste in your mouth.

1 - Finished it 100%.

2 - Nope, thought it was still too easy, I like mygames challenging.

3 - Absolutely not. In fact I was anticipating the game for months. Then I bought it and the disappointment was great.

Super Mario Bros. was simply amazing for the times, of course I don't rate all the games on the same basis, wouldn't make sense. You have to take into consideration the capacities of the systems they came out on. So in the end I played years with SMB/SMB2/SMB3/SMW/SM64 and I've got a great kick out of Galaxy, but I really didn't like SMS that much, adter I finished it I never even thought of getting my hands on it again.

It's one thing to be "technically" better or worse,but the actual experience it delivers and the expectations it has to live up to is another thing entirely.

You mean the American version I think. The Japanese version was good, we got it on VC as Lost Levels.
