I don't think any of them in particular stink (I haven't played the Oracles).

Zelda II was by far the hardest though. Almost to the point of throwing the controller hard imo. Specially getting to the last dungeon and trying to get through it.

They're still called Zelda games. And there's no debate. The CDi versions were the worst. By a lot.

Besides the ones released long ago for a non Nintendo system (I think one was called The Wand of Gamelon), Zelda Wind Waker is the worst.

I loved Windwaker. Sure, it is kind of stupid in some ways and wasn't as profitable for Nintendo as a lot of their Zelda games were but still.

...And I hated Zelda II. And was never very fond of the original Zelda. I just didn't get it.

I enjoyed them all. Though if I had to pick which one I enjoyed the least, it would have to be the first Zelda, hands down. IMO, Majora's Mask was the best, then Windwaker, then TP.

The worse one I played was Wind Waker. I thought the storyline was awful and the places were un-interesting.

Though it breaks my heart to say it: Phantom Hourglass. I loved the game while playing it; my love for it even rivaled my love for Ocarina of Time or Twilight Princess at times, but I couldn't bring myself to finish it. The Temple of the Ocean King was unbearable. The fact that I couldn't finish it makes me choose it as the worst. :(

Wow, what is with all of the Wind Waker hate? :|

In order from best to worst,

Links Crossbow Training

A Link ToThe Past

Twilight Princess

Wind Waker

Ocarina Of Time

Majoras Mask

Phantom Hourglass

Links Awakening

The Legend Of Zelda

The Adventure Of Link

I havent played Four Swords / Adventures, The Minish Cap or the Oracle of Seasons / Ages, cos Im not too big on handhelds.

Still, A Link To The Past is quite simply the most complete Zelda ever. It provided the foundations of the other console games. Ocarina of Time was epic, but Twilight Princess refined everything that was good about it. Wind Waker was a huge risk, and took the series in an entirely different story line, which was very refreshing.

I would love for the next Zelda to be as immense as A Link To The Past; two entire worlds to explore that are tied together, as well as the numerous islands of Wind Waker. Mix in the side quests of Ocarina of Time, and the innovative controls of Phantom Hourglass, and you will have the perfect Zelda.

(just kidding about LCT ;) )

The worst game, (going back on topic) has to be The Adventure Of Link. It was just... yucky. Although it still wasnt as bad as other NES games Ive played.

I've played link to the past, OoT, Wind Waker, Majora's Mask.

TP was the only one that disappointed me. It was boring and dull, basically it felt like a spiritual successor to OoT. The Art didnt work either, Wind Wakers art was a lot better. The music was also dull, i can recall many more tunes from WW than i can from TP.

Not to mention the Wii 'Waggle' was horrible and a huge turn off. Hardly 'innovative.'.

I guess I can see where you are coming from. I enjoyed its references to OoT, but thought it had a lot more in common with ALttP personally. I felt it refined everything. Besides, I had come into gaming cold since the N64 days, so I guess I just felt reassured by its familiarity.

I get what you are saying about the music, but the waggle didnt bother me at all. I guess its all opinions and preference :)

Yeah i prefered the gamecube version to be honest. Its not like TP was a bad game, it just didnt live up to what was being expected imo.

I've played every Zelda in the order they came out (besides the Oracles, and PH) and I can say TP was a huuuuuuuuuge let down for me as well.

It was a beautfil game, no dout....but it just seemed empty. It pisses me off that Nintend had a bad a** concept, and to me...it just felt unfinished or empty. There was nothing to do in Hyrule town besides the clawshot game.

Hyrule Field was completely empty and boring. As big as it was...there could have been some patches of trees, or a few small stores of something to fill the void.

Ganondorf, my all time favorite villian....just seems thrown in. There was really no point in fighting Zant...and even when you do get to Ganondorf...it's the same old tennis match (with Zelda thrown in) and the final showdown was pathetic.

I didn't like Zelda II. I didn't mind that they changed up the formula, I just wish it was one that worked.

I also don't like this topic. People always say the CD-i games, which forces me to remember that they exist. Thanks a lot. :-P

Banning CD-i...
Worst Zelda: Wind Waker hands down.

I grew up on the original Zelda (both quests no deaths! Ok I did cheat and use the up + A trick);

Zelda 2 was different and a platformer but scores points for being the only game that was a sequel rather than a rehash of THE very similar story found in the rest of them.

Zelda: Link to the past: Probably the best. Every other game stole from it, so if you didn't play this before the others you will wonder what the heck I'm talking about.

Zelda: OoT. Nice transition to 3D. No complaints except I hate you skutulas and that stinking fairy! Good game though.

Majora's Mask: Let me know when this comes out on VC...

Zelda: Minish Cap. Not bad. Nice LttP feel to it. Collect all of the statue things with shells though?! Bullet in head please...

Four Swords: Nice idea... anyone want to play? Anyone? Bueller?

Wind Waker: Get your cell shaded craphole, annoying talking boat, and sister replacement of Zelda off my console!

Twilight Princess: Sorry... I'll get to this one once I wash out the taste of all the sea water from the last game.

Phantom Hourglass: sequel? to Wind Waker. No thanks I eat peices of crap like you for breakfast. - you eat peices of crap for breakfast! - ... no!

A couple things. First off, it's stupid to not include the Philips CD-i versions. They're still Zelda games, they should count, and they are barring none the worst games in the series by far. So this poll is dumb by default. Secondly, even if you disregard the CD-i versions, it's hilarious to me all the argument over which is better or worse than the last. The games all have the EXACT SAME game mechanics, guys. I love Zelda. A lot. I've played quite a few of them in my day. But that doesn't mean they're not all basically the same game with a few small tweaks. Excluding Zelda II, you've got your two main gameplay mechanics: full 3D or top-down. That's it. So you can sit and bicker over which was better or worse, but I think it's hard to make a decent argument since every Zelda game is really polished to a mirror shine, and it's not really a difference in quality but a difference in personal taste as to whether or not you liked the game's premise.
