personally, i dont think i would mind too much. i DID buy a wii bc motion sensing is cool. but that doesnt mean all games need it, because in some games it can end up being more gimmicky and actually hinder the game

but of course, i dont weant games to go down a black hole of forgetting motion sensing, and because this is brand new, i realize thaqt developers havent figured out what works the absolute best for games, explaining why it is gimmicky.

as you can see, im conflicted over this, so id personally say that i am against it, just to be safe and to keep the motion-sensing games coming, becuase nintendo does have something going with this, as you all know

I wouldn't mind. Just because the opportunity is available to use motion sensing doesn't mean it's a requirement. For example, I play Blazing Angels without the motion sensing controls. I think it just makes things more complicated.

And of course there's the current example of the arguements over Brawl's controls. Personally I couldn't really imagine Smash Bros. with motion sensing (not to say it would be terrible, I'm sure Nintendo would find a way to make it work well) but it's a good example of a game that shouldn't require motion sensing. The latest rumour of it having an option of either motion or non-motion would be good.

Motion sensing is a good thing, but there are some games that could just become too complex or awkward with motion controls (like Brawl), and some games where normal controls would be boring (like Wii Sports).

I think games without motion are what Nintendo needs.

But whatever. I'll just get a PS3.

Someday. ;__;

In theory a game should always play up the strengths of the platform, but if the game is good enough, I can ignore that.

depends on the game. like say someone makes a FPS for the Wii that doesnt use the Motion sensing at all. Id say thats a bad choice because theirs potential, however i dont care if some games dont use it.

sweet, i just wanted to make sure i wasnt the only one out there that didnt see motion sensing as a priority. i definitely think that many games will just be better if they actually worked on the game being good, not on making a motion sensing game

If a game is worse off with motion sensing controls, don't use them. The appeal of the wiimote is for certain kinds of games, and it should not be forced onto games that would be worse off with them.

To a degree.  I wouldn't be angry if a turn-based RPG didn't use it.

Granted, I don't consider the pointer to be a motion-sensitive device, and I'd expect the pointer to be fully utilized in an RPG.

No. If it can't be incorporated, I'd rather developers leave it out rather than force it in. That's when it'd feel cheesy and out of place.

In a way it would be fine, but then there is the whole, once developers start producing games that don't use motion sensing they will move away from motion sensoring because it isn't requiered and we will be just having a gamecube that has continued on with worse graphics.  I wouldn't mind if there was absolutely no way to incorporate motion sensoring and you make the graphics the best it can be, but I am going to get another system for my non motion sensing gaming.

What is the point of having a game that doesn't use motion sensoring.  If that was the case, nintnedo should have stayed with the gamecube.

It can still be a good game without motion sensing. And yes, the Wii is different from a GameCube, especially in the online department.

Motion sensing, no. However I think the pointer function should almost always be exploited, even if it's just for menu navigation.

It not different enough from a Gamecube to justify no special Wiimote control and the online is poor at best. Wii is the controller, it has nothing else special about its existence.

Bingo.

Nintendo hyped the motion sensing controls as the future standard for gaming and as one of the reasons they didn't improve the hardware a lot. If you say that some games just wouldn't "work" with motion sensing, then motion sensing isn't the next big thing.

I'd say that any developer that doesn't include motion sensing is just being lazy and unwilling to rise to the challenge (and opportunity) of putting motion sensing into a game.

i can see how people may ir may not want motion sensing, but it kind of eliminates the purpose of the wii. It is suppose to be a new generation of gaming that gets you off the couch. I dont have a problem with it, but i agree that no motion sensing is better that poor motion sensing.

Why are you always so negative about the wii? Other consoles also dont have anything special about them besides updated graphics with HD pictures, and Nintendo could've taken that road too. But they decided to try something new, and look what it got them. More than 7 million units sold in less than 7 months. The online isnt so bad either, sure Live is way better, but its definitely not poor.

The dev's just have to keep it polished and great results can happen, I can't imagine playing The Godfather without its fresh controls. Not to mention the games like Wii Sports and Excite Truck which were built for it (these are its system defining games).

Any game that doesn't even support any of the controller features don't even deserve to be on the system, the whole point of Wii is the new interface. Be it for the good or bad of the title, thats just tough if it can't integrate its how they built Wii.

Uhhhhhhhh......... I don't know about that....... I basically bought this console for Super Smash Brothers Brawl.....a game that isn't even going to use motion sensing for its main gameplay. At the same time, there's no way that Brawl could work on the GameCube.

I think that Nintendo games need it in their games.  For games like Brawl, where people might not like it, then they could make different options, one with the Wiimote controls, one with the Gamecube controller, and one for the Classic controller.  With Brawl, or other games like that, I think it's better to at least include an option for the Wiimote controls because if not, then it seems like they're afraid to even try it.  If it works, then at least they included the other options.  If it does, then they can learn from that.  They can use it in other games, and so can 3rd party companies.  As for the other games, like Mario, Zelda, Metroid, etc. I think those need to use the Wiimote, and only the Wiimote.  They need to do what Mario Galaxy is doing, using the Wiimote to show how certain games can be improved on with the Wiimote.  And they can do things that have never been done before.  Like in Mario Galaxy, they have those blue stars that you point at to bring Mario closer to it.  This can be used in good ways to make the gameplay great if it's done right.  They can also do other things with the Wiimote, for all the different games that they make.

As for 3rd party company games, I want to see how they can improve gameplay in certain genres of games, like FPS and Adventure/RPG games.  I'd also like to see some companies come up with ideas that couldn't have been done before with old controllers, taking full advantage of the Wiimote to create new ideas for games.  However, there are a lot of games that just have motion controls just for the sake of having them.  This is what I want to see less of.  Those are the games that I want to use the Gamecube controller or classic controller.  This way, the Wiimote won't seem as gimmicky as it does now.

They could downgrade the textures and it would fly like a bat out of hell on Gamecube. There's not enough difference between the two system's hardware to create a generation gap, they barely upgraded it. I thought people got the Wii for the innovative new interface, its the only big change they made.

Yes I am against any game which does not use the reason I spent out on a new console which wasn't that cheap, I payed less for the GC and N64 which does not seem to be due to price changing over time because they were both £130 :|.  Its one thing when third partys half arse it but when Nintendo are releasing games like Fire Emblem which could easily have had motion tagged on but even they can't take the time to use their ground breaking technology I am less than pleased.

Smash Brothers Brawl is a giant visual leap over Melee and also promises online game play (two things right there we'd never see on GameCube).
