You bought a 3DS and...

lol so I know that I am going to buy one at SOME point, but I was thinking I was going to wait until it got a revision or maybe a price drop. With that said, my few problems right now are these...

1. Battery life (not a HUGE problem, but still)
2. Cheap hardware (I hear the hinge is wobbly and the 3D slider can be too)
3. Vita is coming and tons of awesome games and such

So I am contemplating buying one now, or waiting. The thing is, I dont know if I can wait a year or more likely, two until a revision comes :P. Not only that but the odds of having a gamestop trade up deal is likely. What are your guy's thoughts? Should my worries keep me from buying them, and what are your experiences with the system? Please do not be biased, and personally the library of games is NOT an issue for me, as they are releasing tons of amazing ones before the year is over.

I dont think you should buy one now. Wait till christmas time & get one once Luigi's Mansion, and all those other games come out. Right now there isn't anything warrenting an immediate purchase. The reason I got one is because I have this OCD where I have to have the newest hardware the day it comes out. Its cool to just say...oh yeah i have a 3DS, but the only thing I rly play is pokedex 3D, and SFIV. lol PS Vita also looks promising. Just look at the games. Which one do u want more?

I hear ya, but waiting for a couple months is really no different. I mean they have Ocarina of Time around the Corner, then Starfox, then a bunch of games (Super Mario, Animal crossing, Luigis Mansion 2, Paper Mario, Mario Kart, Kid Icarus) coming after that, all in this year. I cannot imagine those are all going to come out in november and december :P. So I think there will be at least a few great games in the next few months, followed by even more. That's why I said the game selection is not really an issue. It's more the 3DS hardware for me. Buying the same 3DS model in a few months is effectively the same for me as buying it now.

The Vita impresses me more in almost every way (hardware wise), BUT the games still have not captured me except for Uncharted and maybe another one or two at most. Some solid games, but nothing that screams must buy like Paper Mario, Mario kart, SUper Mario, RE: Revelations, Luigis Mansion and more. I do feel however as though I am being slightly ripped off buying the 3DS, which annoys me :P, since the Vita is 250.

i play my consoles a lot more if thats what you mean.

the color scheme and better library would have been nice, but with OoT and the numerous 1st party nintendo games coming out THIS year I dont feel bad

No regrets. I'm not waiting two years for a model with better battery life. Life is too short.

i can play my fave game SSF4 on a handheld, in 3D with fantastic online play... i'm a happy man...

oh and some sort of classic zelda coming soon :)

I should have waited. I have 1 game for it and barely play the thing. Oh well, I'd have paid 250 in any case, so not a total loss. I'm waiting for 3-4 titles that I hope come out soon enough.

I know what you mean, but my question was more geared towards the hardware and such. I mean anyone who bought a 3DS now, probably would have bought one in 3 months or so when a few awesome titles were out and many more coming. That is why I am not concerned about the library, cause the lineup this year is amazing, and OoT is almost out.

I'm also disappointed I still can't message people on my friends list. What's the point of seeing someone online without being able to message them to set up an online game :?

I haven't had an issue with durability or battery life. I've never run out of battery and I take mine everywhere with me, on sleep mode. Though I admit, I'm never one to play a handheld for hours on end .. and if I do I usually just leave it plugged in because I'm not going out anywhere - I did the same with my DSi.

And I figure if I am going to buy that and the 3DS eventually, why not now? But I am a bit concerned because of the hardware mainly, as well as a revision/price drop and the fact that the Vita is coming. Right now the 3DS is beating the Vita in the game lineup for me, but who knows. Oh this is so hard :P.

The problem is a lot of the games have ambiguous release dates. Mario Kart 3DS, Super Mario 3DS, Kid Icarus: Uprising are Holiday 2011 and Luigi's Mansion is 2012, Paper Mario is still TBA 2012 and so is Animal Crossing 3DS lol.

I'm eagerly anticipating Ocarina of Time, considering I haven't played it before. The other platform is certainly enticing considering the price, but that being said - Nintendo is probably going to pump out content in order to create more value for the 3DS. So, you could say I'm fairly optimistic about the 3DS :P.

Oh man, I wish I could erase OoT from my mind so I could play it again for the first time :P. And now that I and everyone else has hyped it so much, you will be letdown :(.

Yeah, I think they are. I certainly don't see ALL those games coming out in 2011. It seems.. unreasonable. What else would they have left for 2012? I still don't think MK3DS and Super Mario 3DS will release in the same year - I think one will be pushed back.

It's hard to say, lol. All the release dates are ambiguous - but they have to remain competitive with Sony, so I'd say at least MK3DS, Kid Icarus, Star Fox 64 will release this year. I think they'll hold back Super Mario 3DS - and Paper Mario, Animal Crossing and Luigi's Mansion 2 are 2012.

All it says is "TBA" so I'm guessing it won't be out this year.

I'm satisfied with my 3DS.

The topic creator mentioned the Vita in their original post.

B. You don't know for sure that Vita won't have any games that you'll enjoy. To make such an assumption now is something only a Nintendo fanboy would do.

1.) I didn't say that. I said there won't be any games that I will "really want". In other words, there aren't any games that I will want enough to justify purchasing the console. It's not the same thing as saying that there wouldn't be any games that I would enjoy.

2.) I own a PlayStation 2 and I have enjoyed it. I certainly am happier with it than I am with the Wii. In fact, I wouldn't be shocked if my PS2 has had more hours put into it than my Wii. So, no, I am not a fanboy (and never would be, anyway). I just have to pick and choose consoles, and when choosing I defaultly go with Nintendo since I'm guaranteed to have lots of games that I know I will want.

...I'm happy but could be a lot better.

I have NO regrets! I love my 3DS, it's awesome.

Needs better third party support.
