So, to give you a quick basckstory, I'm with a group of people that would like to make a video game for the Wii. Currently, we don't have enough people or funding to do so. We're trying to work on that. I've come up with some ideas for games(one main one). This main idea is for an RPG, but I'm not sure how exactly I would want to make it. So, I thought I would see what you guys and girls want to see on the Wii the most.

Would you like a turn-based, random encounter RPG like Final Fantasy? Would you like something similar to Tales of Symphonia where you control only one character(you can choose which one) and the battles aren't random, but rather you can choose to run into enemies or try not to? Would you like something similar to Tales of Symphonia only as a 3D, first person game? My last option is something with a RE4 or Dynasty Warriors camera/view as an action RPG?

Should this dream of making a game for the Wii a reality, I want to know what Wiiowners want(not just Mii).

Also, let me know if you would like to see a game like this have hard or easy modes? My thought with these modes was maybe for easy allowing you to pick the classes for the characters you will be playing with, and for hard to either force you to use only weaker characters(think White Mages from Final Fantasy) or to randomize the classes you would be using and make gains for leveling up smaller.

So, any suggestions, ideas, comments, would be awesome.

I guess a traditional turn based RPG would appeal to hardcore RPG fans, but the interface is a bit dated for console RPG's nowadays. You might want to try a real time RPG like a Dynasty Warriors thing. But I think the best way to go is the Tales style of RPG. I think it would work well with the Wii. But you can't completely rip off the battle system from Tales or people will get pissed. You can borrow from it, but make your own mechanic or innovation to it that will appeal to people who have played the Tales series before.

I would love to see an RPG for the Wii. I dont really like turned based games becuase all you really got to do it run around and press A as fast as you can to get through a fight and then continue to run around. I would rather like to see a game like Dynasty Wariors witch is an action RPG but above all I would loveto play a MMORPG with leveling up and finishing quests and such.

I agree with ^ that turn-based is getting dated. Final Fantasy series has moved on from it and we see less turn-based games every year. Additionally, choosing a turn-based combat system basically nullifies the uses of the motion sensor outside of some gimmicky minigame. So turn-based games are especially flawed on the wii. I really like the system from Tales of Symphonia which allows you to avoid battles.
As for difficulty modes, I think they are underused in games. Especially on the wii, which tries to appeal to the 'new gamer' market. One of the most common complaints nowadays is "it's too easy" (twilight princess) or "it's too hard" (Devil May Cry 3). All games should have a difficulty setting, especially RPGs, which often don't.
Anyway, from what you have posted and the very fact that you are asking our opinions, I think you could be a good game designer. I hope to see your game released someday!

I'll try to keep you guys informed.  Also, if you're making video games, shouldn't you be trying to give players what they want?  Before you can give players what they want, you gotta find out what they want first.  Or at least, that's my philosophy.  I'm hoping this works out as well.  Even if I don't get to do much of the programming, just using my ideas as the basis for a game would be awesome.

I do not like the Final Fantasy spin-off titles myself too. Other than that, I did like Final Fantasy 1, 2, 4, 6, 7, and 9 in the past, but now I am getting sick of turn based RPG(s), it seems repetitive and boring to me now.

I would like some from both games. Final Fantasy the battle style, I like that, but I hate random battles. So from TOS make people you actually run into. And maybe in between combat you can have some movements with the wii mote, like a sword swing, like Paper Mario, how you have to time attacks and they do more damage. Thatd be good for me but im only one person, lets see what others have to say about it.

Good luck making your game.

being able to use the wii mote for attacked would be cool. Like wing it for sword attack, twirl it around for some magic attack, and so forth. That could work for turn based even. Instead of having to choose what attack to do you do a certian motion with the Wii mote. If you do a turn base make sure it has lots of depth and strategy.

Like oh this is an ice creature I better not use ice or water  magic, use fire magic. Just to give a very basic idea. If there is enough complex stuff like this, it can become very strategic like Magic the gathering the card game.

i know turn based rpgs are getting boring but Square can see that i didnt like the last titles either but i see some changes in the future the turn based thing was botn cause the console couldnt run decent battles in real time but probabily next ff will be in real time still i wont spend $600 for a console and i think the people that say that they would buy the 3 consoles or something like that cant be call hardcore gamers and they say that the price of the ps3 isnt much cause its they life but im a hardcore gamer too i red every magazine about gamecube when i couldnt buy it i red guides of games i didnt have but i think anyone that spend 600 in a console has no life the games arent suposed to be used to replace ur life

Thats really good that your thinking of Makin a game. Hopefully you can go through with it. I agree that Turned based is gettin a bit dated, but thats what i was saying until I played FFIII on the ds, and i found a new love for them. Although ner the end all the Lev. Grinding was getting to me, and I just wanted to finish the game. Maybe you could change it up near the end to give the player a boost into wanting to finish the game, change how the game is played. I've never seen it done before and it would be interesting to see how it would turn out. P.S. I dont have much money, or programming skills, but if there comes a time when you need a tester, my PM box is never full:P

Always liked the way Phantasy star online played. Real time fighting and you could see how much HP you were taking off, leveling, magic, equiptment, rares all there just a shame about having to do the same levels over and over so perhaps something like that but with more varity ... would then = a winner to me!

I guess I'm in the minority. I myself prefer turned based RPGs. Not that I have anything against realtime battle systems I just prefer turn based.

I think the best way the Wii would do an RPG is in the Elder Scrolls First Person RPG style.

Make a shovelware game with tons of puppies and happy animals, so you can gain enough founds to make a better game :P

I'm a fan of Valkyria Chronicles gameplay, IMO, is one of the better ideas for a JRPG in recent years, so personally, i would like something similar, also, the Tales formula works pretty well, but it's kind of stale nowadays, either way, good luck with your project.

I want a Kingdom Hearts game on the Wii. Kingdom Hearts 3 preferred. So if you could make that happen...... Or a Shin Megami Tensei game would be nice. A 5th Devil Summoner maybe? (There are 4 games in the Devil Summoner spin-off right? Correct me if I'm wrong).
