Every other Saturday when I meet up with my friends for Smash gettogethers I take it off the stand. It fell like that when we were playing Smash Bros once.
I don't have a choice but use my stand. Everytime I play Guitar Hero I get crazy and my Wii could get knocked down. It has to last me atleast until I play SMG and SSBB.
My wii stands strong. It's not tall and awkward like the PS2 and PS3 so it doesn't look lame, it actually looks better than when the wii is laying down.
I've found that the Wii is better on a stand. More surface area means less heating. When the stand is used, more surface area is expossed. And the wii has no trouble balancing as long as you have the base to the stand.
i put mine on my stand because while i was playing with the gamecube controller i moved to far back and it fell, it is harder to topple over when it is on the stand
Yeah, I standed it. Didn't make any sense to have something that was 2" tall take up 4 1/2" of space laying flat. Then again I believe it depends on where/how you crammed it next to your TV so the sensor bar would reach.

that happend at my college from smash players, and they broke the wii. the school got a new one though.
No stand since it's on a shelf made for a DVD player. I do have a rear fan on it to cut down the heat. I'll agree that it seems more stable on it's side than in a stand, but IF I had the height in the shelf I'd get the stand cooler.
