I would be very surprised if the game is actually released in 2011.

I kinda agree with this.
I mean it could happen, but I have my doubts.

I wasn't expecting it before May anyway. I doubt they would release it during the 3DS launch window, especially if OoT 3D is released then. This probably means it wil come out next summer or just end up being the mid November release. It isn't too shocking, although nothing is official yet anyway.
It wasn't. "You can look forward to playing The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword next year" obviously means January 1st.[QUOTE="OreoMilkshake"][QUOTE="SaltyMeatballs"]Never even knew it was "early 2011"kenakuma
No but, "Early 2011 -- that is what we're aiming for" (Eiji Aonuma to Official Nintendo Magazine) DOES!
"Aiming for" =/= guarantee.[QUOTE="kenakuma"]

The point is you acted like I pulled the "early" 2011 time frame out of no where when a major producer,Eiji Aonuma is the one that mentioned it!
Well that should give them more time to make the backgrounds look better. The environments look like paper cutouts...very tacky. Since they're going with a cartoonish approach that should save them power and space to fix the backgrounds. At least do that Nintendo!

No I wasn't talking about you. I was wondering how it was delayed when nothing was confirmed. Let alone delayed a second time.It wasn't. I'm not gonna bother giving a link to a direct article, just a google search on it with a list of a bunch of websites (IGN, 1UP, GameSpot, MTV, Zelda Dungeon, Zelda Universe ect.) all reporting the same thing, early 2011!
Seriously, click any search result on that front page and you'll see them reporting a early 2011 release...
early 2011 isn't a solid release date but a time period and any game release giving in a time period isn't a set date so i can't call this as delayed just moved time period now if they said something like" march 20 2011, then I'd agree with saying its been delayed, and it seems like a lot of games this gen when given time periods seem to move around some were big games some were not and really people can not trust ign for news in the past 2 years they been blundering a lot. Zelda being pushed back does not bother me after a link to the past they all been slowing going down hill, twilight princess nearly saved the series to me but not enough to be bothered by a push back release Skyward SwordI wasn't expecting it before May anyway. OMG common sense! why would Nintendo release two Zeldas close toghether? so of course its not going to be until may at the earliest. I thought we had this sorted out

No I wasn't talking about you. I was wondering how it was delayed when nothing was confirmed. Let alone delayed a second time.Well apparently it was originally "confirmed" for 2010 according to this IGN article "Zelda Sequel Confirmed For 2010":
http://wii.ign.com/articles/105/1058479p1.html
Of course they have shaky evidence to back up their article as well....

Well I guess we have different takes on what qualifies as being delayed.
To me if they set any sort of time frame regardless of how specific like early 2011, march 2011, or even march 12, 2011 and then end up moving the date further for development reasons or other than to me thats a delay.
Like if the 3DS which is just TBA March right now is announced to come out in may or something when they announce the specific release date details on Jan 19, to me that would be a delay!
But thats just me, I could see how others such as yourself don't see it as a delay and yes these gaming sites seem to be pretty sketchy with how they "interpret" words from these guys and report them, best just to read the actual interviews from now on when available.
I also plan on playing TLP again before SS (haven't played it since launch), and also just cleared a link to the past 100% the other day :) 2 great games imo!
At this rate, it'll a Q4 2011 title, and maybe even pull the crap Nintendo did with Twilight Princess and make it available for the nex gen console. I would be so pissed.wiifan001
I can't see them moving it to the next console AGAIN, would they?
Is that like a new thing, Zelda as a launch game, TLP=Wii, OoT=3DS???
Lol, personally I don't see the Wii 2 till 2012 and imo they need Zelda this year for their 1st party line-up!
^Are people going to say that for every Zelda that comes out now? They did that because the Gamecube was dead and TP was a killer app right out of the box for the Wii since Galaxy and Brawl weren't going to make launch. They have no reason to do that again as their current console is alive and well and SS will be a big money title for them. Also I wouldn't be so quick to jump on the Q4 bandwagon, especially for a statement like this. their plan could be the same as it was this year. Let that big title drop in the middle of the year and round out the year with E3 announced titles. Sepewrath
Lol, people were saying that about this Zelda before it was even officially announced :P

SepewrathI was simply going on the farthest stretch of anything that could legitimately happen with Skyward Sword. No, i don't think that will happen, yet somehow that idea isn't necessarily opted out now is it?
Don't really see how its possible to delay something that never had a solid release date to begin with. They might have dropped some hints at a time frame they wanted but they weren't bound to it since they played it smart and gave themselves the buffer zone with no confined schedule in case they wanted more time.
Doesnt matter, as long as it doesnt get delayed as much as SSBB.
Delays are good anyway, we dont want a rushed Zelda game, god no. We want the game to get higher than an 8.5 after all ;)
Lets get another SMG2 rating :D
Now hopefully they have time to change the pathetic graphics.

Like I said before--since they're going with a cartoonish look, that should save them time, power, and space to add more to the backgrounds. The trees and landscape all look like paper cut outs. Which I find very tacky. I know we only saw a demo, but lets hope they can get rid of the paper cut out look of the backgrounds.
Too much far fetched interpretation of a sole sentence that would probably sound completely different if you'd ask Miyamoto the same thing a few days later. It's just a vague formulation for ,,Progression is doing fine".
Aonuma confirmed that it is as good as done and we would already play it, if they didn't change the art style. Iwata also released Spirit Tracks last year, because he was confident Wii Zelda would come out soon. You think they worked 4 years and still have halfway to go? I'd guess Skyward Sword gets a similar release date as Galaxy 2 this year, near summer.
