Is it just me or did anyone else think that TP wasnt really good? I just didn't connect to it as much as Wind Waker. I could play wind waker for hours at a time, TP gets pretty boring after a while. I'm only at the water alien things and i havent played in a long time. Does it get any better? am i whining too much because the beggining inst very good?Guckyy
Water alien?

yes yes thats it. does it get any better after you save them?
A lot better.
I didn't connect with this story as much as Windwaker, there's a reason for it and you'll understand it when the game is done. I don't want to spoil anything.
But trust me, keep going, those first 3 temples, once they're out of the way the game really picks up.

That's what I heard too... I can relate to the TC though as I quit playing after the Fire Temple. It kinda depressed me a bit since I'm such a Zelda fan and all, but some other folks said it ended up getting better so I'll take them at their word. I was going to get around to it, but got pulled in by some 360 games that I've been obsessing over lately.Â
[QUOTE="l8bitz"]well you are definently a minority for liking Wind Waker better than TPGuckyy
I like wind waker a lot more
Same here.
I liked wind waker a lot more.
I was hoping TP would pick up more, but not so much. Still a good game but after beating it, I really don't feel like ever picking it up again. Wind Waker and Ocarina on the other hand, I'll be going a few more rounds again with them.

Exactly
I haven't played Wind Waker, so I can't comment on how good it is compared to that. And I haven't finished playing TP yet, but I'm close enough to the end to have a very good idea what I think of the game as a whole.
It does start out slow (I actually didn't realize how slow it was until my brother stated playing it this weekend, I was just caught up in getting into the game and getting used to the controls). It does get a lot better IMO.
It is supposed to be the last Zelda of it's kind. Because of that, they wanted to make the best Zelda of its kind and used a lot of what has made the 3D Zelda games great. They focused a lot more on the puzzles in this game, and also focused on making a much stronger story.
However, there are drawbacks to each of these things. The fact that they were trying to make the best game of this kind, as kind of a sum-up of the 3D Zelda games, it ends up losing something that all the Zelda games I've played have had. Each of the Zelda games that I played (Legend of Zelda, Adventure of Link, Ocarina of Time, and Majora's Mask) have had something unique about them. LoZ had the honor of being the first ever Zelda game, and was a very good start to the series, AoL had the side-scroling element, OoT was the first 3D Zelda, And MM had the time element. In this game, it did have the Wolf Link element, but besides the wolf sensing and the digging for some things, it seemed too much like regular link, except with wolf-based attacks. And even the sensing and digging weren't used as much as they could have been. Overall, TP had nothing that was special about it, and therefore it seemed to be missing something that the others had.
The puzzles (at least IMO) were really good in this game. However, the shift in the focus on the puzzles seems to have severely affected the fighting aspect of the game. I know that Zelda is an adventure game, and is therefore supposed to be focusing more on the puzzles, but they should give us more of a challenge while facing the enemies.
The story is a good story. It is probably one of the best (if not the best) that I've seen in a Zelda story. However, it still seems like it is making excuses for just going from dungeon to dungeon.
Because of these points, it is not the best game of the series, especially because of the lack of something special about it. But it is not a bad game. In fact it is the best that I've played for the Wii, and it is actually great. You should definitely finish playing it, especially since you already got the game.

Thank you, and you absolutely have to get wind waker. I think it is my favorite game
I think TP is the best Zelda...ever. Â That just my opinion tho, :pduble_Needler23
Ouch, looks like your alone in this thread.
I loved WW, but I rented TP, and almost had to force myself to finish. There were so many moments where I just didn't care to keep going.

I plan to sometime. But I have too many games that I want to get now, and in the near future. :( (as if that's a bad thing :P). I'm hoping to get it next year, if there aren't as many games that I want. I did play a demo of it (I have the Zelda Collector's Edition for gamecube), and it does seem good, although the demo was really short.

Next year?! too long if you ask me. I'm pretty sure you will love it. You will really connect to it. You need to wash some cars or something.                                                                                                   Â

lol. It's not actually the money (I seem to have money all the time... somehow... :?). It's more of a time issue, and the fact that I mainly want to get newer games. I'm also waiting to see if Nintendo surprises us and announces a re-make of the game with Wii controls. I think that I might get it after I beat the "Big Three" games at the end of the year (assuming they don't get delayed). Like I said, I haven't finished TP. I also downloaded A Link to the Past (I never played that either, because the Zelda Collector's Edition was the only Zelda game I got), so I'll play that sometime soon. So at least while I'm waiting to get WW I'll still have my fair share of Zelda games. :P
Also, just because I said that I might get it next year doesn't mean that I won't change my mind. I might get it with some money that I get for my birthday in August or something.

I guess it's just taste. I think that TP is the best of the series, and i've owned them all right when they were released. I won't say that it's the best of it's time, or of all time, as I certainly think that this is up for debate and will never have an answer, but my fave is TP. TP and WW are so different that it is easy for someone to like one more than the other. Though I loved WW, TP is just better IMO.
Are you kidding? TP was excellent.
If Twilight Princess & Wind Waker were released at the same time, I know which one I would've picked.Â
What happened to the group of fans that hated Wind Waker and forced Nintendo's hand in making Twilight Princess, the 'true sequal' to OoT? In any case, TP is an awesome game. It falls down against OoT in terms of side quests and distractions. Although Hyrule is much huger in TP, travelling across it feels more linear than it did in OoT, as does the game in general, probably because of the lack of distractions. I realize it's in vogue to bash the game, but the 'I hate Twilight Princess' messages are too strong. As for Wind Waker, it was a good game. But come on! Triforce fishing took fetch-questing to an all-new low. To the TC, though: if you are bored with it, just stop playing. You don't owe it anything.  Â

While TP was fairly linear because of the lack of side quests.....WW's pacing felt broken due to the long sailing segments.
That triforce fetch quest was the biggest road block in the games pacing, and there is simply no excuse for having to become Tingle's rupee slave.Â
I think you're whining too much. Just because the game isn't as hard as OoT, or as long as WW, but I still think its more fun than either of them.george_is_link6
TP is much longer than WW story-wise. Maybe not sidequest-wise though...

Puzzles weren't hard and the story wasn't that compelling.
The bottom line is that even as a Zelda "of its kind", it didn't deliver. Simply because there's no "main kind" of Zelda. People act as if every Zelda except for WW was in "OoT kind", while the only Zelda to use OoT engine was MM and still had a very different feeling. Just because OoT is "the best Zelda" it doesn't mean that's Zelda "main style". Ocarina of Time is just as unique as any other Zelda - that is, until TP. People got used to get something new in every Zelda, but for some reason they decided that an 8 years old design was the way to go. The result? "TP isn't that great" thread after thread. TP is a "Zelda of its kind" is no excuse. First, because it wasn't supposed to be: where's the whole animal interaction and other original stuff that was promised? There's barely none. Second, because Zelda always kept the same core gameplay, yet people acted as if after Wind Waker Zelda went in the most unexpected way. TP wasn't "coming back to Zelda roots" at all.

first of all...compare OOT to LTTP............OOT is basically almost a direct copy of LTTP only in 3d. you get 3 stones *medallions* get the master sword, go through a certtain number of dungeons, and then fight ganondorf and or ganon. TP is somewhat guilty of this as well. Hell....even WW is guilty of using that 3 dungeons and then master sword setup.2nd of all: GS seems to be the only place disappointed with it. Looking at 95% on gamerankings...well....I'd say this game was really well received.Â

Agreed. MM was a nearly completely different game. If it didn't have Link or the Zelda name on it, it could almost pass for a totally different game. WW was pretty different too and it wasn't all TOO similar to OoT or MM. Then TP came and seemed similar to OoT and everyone was like "OMG RETURN TO ROOTS". Weird huh? Even before OoT was Link to the Past which was fairly different as well with Light and Dark worlds and many different weapons and items.
But it's really the dungeon-exploring and puzzle solving that makes a Zelda game Zelda.
