Hi! Ok so I don't keep up with game news but I hear Zelda Wii might be coming out this year!!? Trying not to get my hopes up but as a Zelda fan I HAVE to get just a little excited :P oh well So yea this got me thinking about past games and how they're all great for different reasons - and I want to know if you could take qualities from each game and put them into Zelda Wii what would they be? I would take.. From Twilight Princess: The Art/Graphics. Visually it's stunning, ethereal very atmospheric, the music adds to it. Zora domain is especially amazing. Keep the visuals real. Hyrule town is at its best here imo. From Wind Waker: Charming memorable characters. Tingle was at his best here imo. Link actually has a home and relatives ^_^. no more crazed forest orphan. From Majora's Mask: Again charming characters. Side quests, they were awesome and quirky. Cut scene of lady getting robbed by prancing thief will never not be funny. From Ocarina of Time: The large number of towns and people to interact with. No feeling isolated. Gerudo!! bring them back. The atmosphere in dungeons, especially Fire and Shadow temples. The Minish Cap A guide like Elzo folklore-like charm of characters and landscape

The feeling of being in a surreal world that harbors a lot of secrets (not unlike a squirrel's tail). Twilight Princess was missing that and I hope they bring back the more zany, fantasy elements of the N64 Zelda's.

I dont want to see ANYTHING from previous zelda games.

I want a crossbow instead of a bow. I mean what did I go through all that training for?

I want to see new items instead of the same like every other game.

I want to hear some music from past games but also new, better ones.
I will also want to see everyone BUT Link talk. MP3 had great voice acting and I enjoyed it more than MP1 and MP2 because it made the world feel alive. But instead of English voice acting, it will be in LATIN! The SSBB intro was in Latin, why can't they make everyone in Zelda Wii talk Latin? This way text-based dialogue will still be used like in every other Zelda, people won't complain for corny voice acting, and you can easily change the language of the game like in TP.

I will also like to see horse back combat again, but I'm not sure if it will work with the whole "first person view." If only you can see Link just like in TP, but closer to the screen. He will be transparent or something and be able to move his arms/sword the same way you're moving the remote.

I don't necessarily want things to be brought back or not to be brough back. I just want Zelda to be good again. But here are my fav aspects of the following Zelda games...

LttP:

- upgradable tunics giving def bonus

- music

OoT

-the magic meter!!!!!! and the magic spells and arrows

- classic elemental tunics (water, fire) a thunder would be cool tho hey? Also don't make the water tunic look like im a fish.

- the ocarina ( a musical instrument of SOMEKIND, a piece of grass just doesn't count)

- the song of time

- always love a good time travel

- gannondorf at his best. Looked most raw didn't sound as gay as in TP and the most badass boss fight and epic gannon

- miss the chracters from this and MM.

-the hover boots!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

- liked how there was a good reason for the green tunic. All other zeldas imo do a bad job or just don't even tell you why your dressed like a grasshopper.

MM

- sword upgrades

- the zoras (art wise) and the zora band!

- all the sidequests

- turning into zora, goron

-the fierce dietys mask... it was fierce

- fairy sidekick (with some personality and a vocabulary bigger than "listen!")

TP

- sword skills. This was well done. Something (maybe the only thing) I don't have to complain about this game.

- wolf IF it had a set of skills to improve and/or items to equip. The fact that the wolf stayed stagnent the whole game was like wtf.. why'd you even make me play as this for?!

- liked how I was surprised with gannondorf being the end boss, though he made his lamest debut in this game.

WW

- a boat would be cool to explore on but not the main focus of transportation.

Oh and one last thing, I'd like to see a cutscene implying that Link gets to score with princess Zelda.. The poor lad deserves it by now don't you think? :P

WW and TP:
-a combined look of windwakers and twilight princess's visuals
(maybe something like Boarderlands?)

MM
-side quests
-interactive characters

WW
-charming characters
-free roaming

ALttP
-upgradable armour pieces
-magic meter with many spells
-a Hyrule field with plenty of things to do

Not from any:
-orcestrated music
-new battle mechanic
-new items

too much to say. sidequest system even better than on MM, and with more sidequests. maybe something on the level of minish cap, but with quests instead of kinstone fusions. the boss style from AlttP, where the dungeon item would help a little, but it was still an enemy, not a harmful puzzle. the HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE world from wind waker. i want my world to be at least that big and full of neat stuff to find, not just a bunch of rupees. the advanced sword techniques you learn in TP, but, again, unlocked minish cap style: do a sidequest, a dojo opens up somewhere, visit the dojo. and add more skills and make them really important in battle. multiple equips from OoT/MM. having different swords/clothes/shields/etc for each situation would be awesome. that's it for now. as far as "things from past games" go, at least.

well there are some things that should never change in zelda. the dungeons that require a bit of the ol noggin as well as steel. the new items you collect that are used in different ways throughout the game. the top notch controls of course. loads of little secrets and hidden gems dotted around the map. and of course the new gameplay mechanic...whether its time travel or using a wand to direct the wind or turning into a wolf or something completly different again....somethign that sets it apart from previous games in the series.

Twilight Princess Art style. Great art, beautiful buildings, use a new engine though making it look better. Keep it realistic also. Windwaker: Sailing and the characters. I liked the feeling of sailing, but don't make the game built around it. Just add it to get to some places, and maybe for some side quests. Majora's Mask: MASKS! Side quests and characters here too. Masks were a biggy and who doesn't want to turn into a deku. Ocarina of Time: The Ocarina, Magic and time travel. Also we need the temples from here they were amazing. Link to the Past: Magic once again, and the cool variety of items.

Awesome side quests such as the ones found in Majora's Mask also bring back the Ocarina of Time. I don't really want Hyrule again or saving princesses, also something cool and unique like the Majora's Mask storyline.

I'll throw out something different, and go with better sound design, namely with the sound effects. Ocarina of Time (and in turn, Majora's Mask) had great sound effects, and even Wind Waker, but Twilight Princess' sound effects were just standard fare.

I wouldn't mind an orchestrated soundtrack. I think it's the right evolution for the Zelda series.

Mainly: MM: -the rich world full of referrences to other chars and events, and tons of side quests. This is what made the game for me, meeting the bombers, hearing about weddings etc., going to the ranch -the bank :D TP -as much as I liked it, not too sure about what I would want to bring over. OoT -gerudo -how each town felt like a town (even though TP had this I just didn't feel like kakariko village was a village etc.) -perfect number of temples -another ranch WW: -the size! I couldn't believe how neat it was after beating the game and discovering all these tiny little islands with characters and little houses I didn't expect to see -the innovativeness, the stealth portion was a big surprise -the bosses actually felt epic in this despite the cartoony graphics. I'm not going to go into the 2d's as I can't say how it'd translate to 3d.

They should really focus on story this time. I think it would be great if another male Gerudo were born to challenge Ganon. A Darkworld would be cool as well--especially if you got turned into a bunny.

Well keep in mind that WW's size was a product of it lacking detail. The Great Sea was just a bunch of open water so it was possible to pack in alot of that, space little things out and give an really convincing illusion of a massive world. One thing i really liked about TP is how alive the world felt, if you could mix what was done in TP with the characters of MM, they would nail the NPC side of the game.

ALttP:

- Tough bosses that can actually kill you if you're not careful. I liked how you couldn't ALWAYS stun a boss before hacking away with the sword.

WW:

- Water exploration. The game doesn't have to take place in a sea like WW, but it'd be nice to look for secrets or have a dungeon on an island or something.

- A more expressive Link. It may be because of the style, but I felt closer to Link because of the amount of facial expressions he could make. The TP one was noticeably bland after that. Luckily, Midna made up for it.

OoT/MM:

- Actual towns and villages. I was pretty disappointed when Kakariko Village only had 3 people in it.

- A magic meter would be nice. As well as optional items (like the Fairy Spells or Biggoron's sword) that you can only get through extra effort or exploration.

- Closer connections to NPCs.

New things: DIFFICULTY LEVELS, PLEASE!!!!!!

Haha I can't beleive I forgot to add that into my WW list! I especially loved his awkward face in instances like when he recieved the green tunic.

The option to use the gamecube controller only. Please!

Twin-Blade

that's a pretty lame and selfish "option" There are people who much prefer the wii controlls to the gamecube. Why not just wish for the option to have both? Then we can all be happy.

Enough with the past of games already, this is why Metoid Other M is not going to be great, becuase it is a 2D platformer (what people would call great Metroid) with is a huge step backword compared to the awsomeness of the previous 3 games.

If it ain't broke, dont't fix it. If Metroid was awsome in first person, DON'T GO BACK TO OUTDATED 2D!

Twilight Princess Graphic Style with touch ups. It's stunning size too. Also a combat system like TP that let Link learn new sword skills. Oh and maybe include another Cave of Ordeals. And also include enemies as epic to fight as the Dark Nuts.

Phantom Hourglass fairy power up system. I'd like something similar to it but with more abilities added.

Wind Wakers combat system that allowed you to pick up the enemies weapons and use it.

Majora Masks number of side quests and mask system. And maybe have a time system similar to MM that will allow you to do things on certain days. Have memorable characters similar to those in OoT and MM. Oh and include and item as awesome and rewarding as the Fierce Deity mask. I was mad as hell when I reached the bottom of Cave of Ordeals in Twilight Princess just to receive a stinking potion after a hell of a time getting to the bottom. Something like Fierce Deity mask seems more rewarding for mt troubles.

Ocarina of Time's music system. It doesn't have to be an Ocarina as long as it's not a howling wolf anymore. I'd love the magic to return as well as the fire and ice arrows. I'd also love the weapons to be as awesome as Ocarina of Times. I also want a reward system similar to OoT. I liked how I got a biggoron sword for preparing eye drops for that giant goron. Or Ice arrows for completing the trial the Gerudos gave Link in Gerudo valley that rewarded Link with Ice arrows....

Link to the Past difficult. I want the giant bosses to take up 2 hearts not a quarter or a half. And maybe include the Tunics that reduce damage as well. Or something similar to OoT tunics.

That's about all I can think of...

How can I forget Navi. I'd love an companion similar to her that actually presents a description to the monsters I'm fighting....

Hahaha I felt the same way. On my way down I was like, "Dude anything that takes this long has to be an awesome reward, like magic or a new sword or something!" Then I finally make it to the end to get... more fairy tears! To add insult to injury, I'd just used the fairy tears I'd gotten from Jovani for the last two rooms.

I was expecting fire and/or Ice Arrows like the trial used in Ocarina of Time where I at least got ice arrows from gerudos valley for completing that trial. I didn't have fairy tears for the last couple rooms. I had to rely on the purple and my one golden shining chu chu for the last few level. And even those weren't enough when I had to fight those dark nuts. I ended up having to play through the place 2 or 3 times before reaching the bottom to receive a disappointing prize. One of the things that pissed me off about TP. It's reward system was pure crap. That's something I left out. OoT reward system would be nice....

This will probably be Nintendo's greatest challenge yet. How do you make a new styled Zelda game without being to familiar, yet satisfying long-time fans at the same time without drifting too far from the series' traditions? Likewise, this game has to be the best looking and biggest Nintendo-made game ever, so they have a HUGE task ahead of them. In other words, I don't know what to expect. I don't think they'll recycle from past games than it'll just be Twilight Princess 2: Ocarina of the Familiar, and I don't think Nintendo is going for that.

Well, they said it'll be like no Zelda that's come before it, so it's impossible to know how many ideas they're going to recycle. I think the big question is whether they will present a challenge to long-time players.

Don't even get me started. The poe collection was a waste of time too.

What pissed me off the most about receiving the fairy potion for completing the cave of ordeals was the fact fairy potion was a complete waste of game space considering Link is strong enough as it is and has a hard time dying. Link didn't need his strength to be doubled. And the poe collection quest? I never attempted to find all of them. I only got around 10 or 15 poes. And they were the poes that were hanging around in my path. If the reward was at least as good as OoT golden skulltula hunt, I would have tried to find them....

The handheld games seem to be carving out their identity separate from the console games.

still, they're previous games, and a lot of stuff seen on minish cap have yet to be done better on the consoles. @snover - so just because there's an extra dimension, it's better? might i say that i like super mario world more than any 3D mario game?
I was mad as hell when I reached the bottom of Cave of Ordeals in Twilight Princess just to receive a stinking potion after a hell of a time getting to the bottom. Something like Fierce Deity mask seems more rewarding for mt troubles.tocool340

But wasn't the prize just a giant rupee? I liked all of the other prizes up to that point, though. The skulltula hunt was also different in that it was fun to do.

actually, the prize is unlimited giant rupees. get the silver rupee, save, reset, get it again... like you don't have enough rupees leaking from your holes already >.>

The whole silver rupee reward is kinda a joke but what is worse is the timing. When this reward becomes available to you there is no need to aquire any more rupees as your probably full atm and theres nothing left in the game to spend them on. What's worse is you can only claim another silver rupee when you run out! You have one last thing to do in the game, your sitting at 900 rupees, when you gonna find time for that? This is by far the worst reward system Zelda has ever seen, really, almost any game has ever offered. I really hope this disgraceful reward system isn't implemented in the new Zelda.

I want the difficulty back from OOT (although that may just be dreaming) and just like TP I want it to walk a careful line between old and new. Oh and for once I want a truly fleshed out story that goes into great detail on things. For instance we know that the evil army attacked the castle in TP but would it be too hard to tell us what led to them forming an army and doing that in the first place?

the advanced sword techniques you learn in TP, but, again, unlocked minish cap style: do a sidequest, a dojo opens up somewhere, visit the dojo. and add more skills and make them really important in battle. BrunoBRS

I'd like this, so long as it's implemented better than in the aforementioned games. Many of the "secret" abilities in Minish Cap were just abilities from previous games that now needed to be unlocked for some dumb reason. Even Twilight Princess did the same thing with one or two abilities.

I'd like to see a similar design/graphics to Twilight Princess.

Less linear gameplay, though, something akin to MM. I love the time concept in that game.

I want the ocarina back!

Masks. Especially turning into a Zora- that was one of the highlights for me from MM.

More numerous and interesting sidequests, like MM.

Higher level of difficulty. I like the dungeons in OoT a lot.

Some nice motionplus controls, especially with the bow and arrow.

And of course, awesome music, but I don't think I have to worry about that.

Very good points. What's the use in fairy tears if I'm already super-powerful with 20 hearts? Or rupees when there's nothing of consequence to buy? I hope I'm not stoned to death for bringing up a PS franchise here, but I wouldn't mind seeing a reward system like the MGS series. Getting some of this stuff after beating the game, but being able to use them on the second playthrough to make it easier or more fun. Of course, u might not want to start the game with unlimited rupees, but having something like Biggoron's sword or the bunny hood from the beginning might be cool.

that's why i said "the advanced sword techniques FROM TWILIGHT PRINCESS, unlocked LIKE MINISH CAP" :P get the awesome looking TP skills, add a bunch of others, make them useful (maybe even necessary O_o), and unlock the dojos MC styIe.

Give me the crazy whirlwind sword ability from WW and Ill be happy. Seriously though, I'm sure Ill be more than satisfied with whatever they go with. Something original is expected. And they haven't failed with that thus far.
