IMO this has been a great year for Hip Hop, and a very interesting one production-wise. I heard 150+ albums/mixtapes this year, so I had a lot of material to choose from. I know that we weren't supposed to split albums and mixtapes, but honestly I heard enough great albums & mixtapes that it didn't make sense to combine the two to make one list. Here's my list: Top 10 albums/EPs 1) Jay Rock - Follow Me Home 2)Kendrick Lamar - Section 80 3) Locksmith - Embedded 4) Thurz - L.A. Riot 5) San Quinn & Tuf Luv - A Hustler's Hope 6) DaVinci - Feast or Famine EP 7) G-Side - The One... Cohesive 8) Roc Marciano - Greneberg EP 9) Shady Nate - Still Based On A True Story 10) Joe Blow - You Should Be Paying Me Runner-ups: Killer Mike - Pl3dge Main Attrakionz - Chandelier HD - Fresh Top 10 mixtapes/free albums 1) Danny Brown - XXX 2) Curren$y - Covert Coup 3) ASAP Rocky - LiveLoveA$AP 4) Young L - As I Float: The Great John Nash 5) Freddie Gibbs - Cold Day In Hell 6)Big KRIT - Return Of 4Eva 7) Young Gully - Hustla Movement 4 8) Lloyd Banks - The Cold Corner 2 9) Erk Tha Jerk - Nerd's Eye 2 10) Rockie Fresh - The Otherside Redux Runner-ups: Krypto - It's My Turn Killa Keise - I'm Wit Tha **** Music Vol. 1 Sean Sentry - Born In Advance Best Song: 1) A$AP Rocky - Peso 2) Danny Brown - Pac Blood 3) Curren$y - The Type ft. Prodigy 4) Roc Marciano - Hoard 90 5) Young Gully - Never Afraid Runner-ups: Kendrick Lamar - HiiiPower DaVinci - Smoke The Night Away Los Rakas - Soy Raka Main Attrakionz - Swaggin' Hard Young L - Same Reason Best rapper: 1) Locksmith 2) Kendrick Lamar 3) Young Gully 4) Danny Brown 5) Curren$y Runner-up: Killa Kyleon Best producer: 1) Clams Casino 2) Alchemist 3) DJ Fresh 4) Young L 5) Block Beataz Runner-up: Big KRIT IAMSU! Best Frisbee: The Tonite Show w/ Lil Rue The Jacka - The Indictment San Quinn - Can't Take The Ghetto Out A ***** The Jacka - Flight Risk Most Anticipated Project of 2012: Young Gully - The Ordeal HBK Gang mixtape J. If you can make a separate top 10 list combining albums/mixtapes/ep's from your two lists it would be helpful just for voting purposes because I don't know how to tally your votes. Or you can try ranking them all in a giant top 25 list or something.

We used to have top 10 albums/top 10 mixtapes/top 5 ep's as separate categories in past years but people preferred just putting everything in one list. And I know sometimes there's been confusion whether something qualifies as an album, street album, free album or mixtape so it kind of just makes it easier to not differentiate between them.

They actually had a release date set for December 9th of this year. Then Kno said they were moving it back because...I'm not really sure why.

But yeah, it's almost the indie rap Detox at this point.

c'mon now, that album was average save for the beats. This wasn't even on the level of his blue or red flame mixtapes

Im Gay was dope. I'm sorry you're not based guys :?.

If you want to talk about replayability, Oneirology had like 0 replay value and is on everyone's lists. I honestly have no intention of ever listening to that album again, even though I thought it was a good album. Maybe in like 2 years when I'm looking back at 2011...

I don't know if its worthy of a category but what were some of the worst trends of 2011? I can't get over the explosion of white female rappers that blew up this past year: Kreayshawn, V-Nasty, Iggy Azalea... and you can't leave out the fastest female rapper alive either.

V-Nasty is the worst thing to happen to Hip Hop this year...Her album with Gucci Mane was awful. SMH at Gucci for that one.

I think a category for top 5 music videos would be cool though...A lot of really cool videos this year like Otis, Yonkers, etc.

I've never heard V-Nasty until that. She makes Kreayshawn look like Rakim.

It's a Gucci Mane record, you're not exactly going to be getting great rapping fullstop.

i dont understand this at all...i'm the COMPLETE opposite. i'll listen to his cooking songs like once or twice, but i could never listen to that **** on the reg hahah. part of the reason this album is a modern classic (imo) is because everyone was expecting at least a few cooking songs, but he's just spittin truth the whole album...it was completely unexpected and just it made a stronger statement imo.

Dark Sister is pretty bad too. They are most notable for their live performance where they were barely dressed and rolling around in corn syrup or honey lol. I didn't know they were rappers when I first saw the pictures, then I saw an interview with them was like huh?

Lil B isn't that great a rapper to me so he needs to play to his strengths which is really his cooking music.

This and this are what I come for when I listen to Lil B.

Songs like I Got Aids and Age of Information might be serious, but they're also quite stupid which actually makes them more entertaining on repeated listens. Most of I'm Gay wasn't silly enough to have muh replay value.

Well that sounds weird.

I'm God is great and so is Cocaine but that's mostly cause Beautiful Lou is an amazing producer. I get tired of cooking tracks by Lil B too but  songs like "Pretty Boy" or songs where there's a trap beat for example are when he's at his best

I want to know how Age of Information "is quite stupid."

Also, I agree with Orlando and Dadukies. Im Gay-esque Lil B is certainly worth listening to.

Stupid might be a bit far, but it's far from being a profound or deep examination of modern technology's effects on society.
