[QUOTE="Colt45fool"]Man, I just went back and listened to this album again. This is my favorite album of all-time. "Brown Sugar" is just so juvenile in comparison. D'Angelo is a genius. R&B Jesus. Christ, I'm only on "Playa, Playa" but there's a reason why I have 3,000 plays of D'Angelo based on two albums of actual material (though to be fair, I have a few miscallaneous songs, live albums, outtake albums, and a mixtape from D.)
Just got to track two, and D'Angelo just makes this "Devil's Pie" beat. Premo did a great beat, but D'Angelo's vocals are perfect in every way imaginable. I could never imagine anyone else on this...hell, when I was listening to the instrumentals, I was humming D'Angelo's opening vocals. The beat feels so bare without him--it's as if Premo made the beat specifically for D'Angelo
The main ingredients to this dish,
Goes like this, here's a list,
Materialistic, greed and lust,
Jealousy, envious
Man, D rips this beat to shreds.Â
i wont forget about dangelos voodoo
