I agree with half that list, no De La Soul is a travesty but its good enough from MTV anyway.

Theyre not influential at all IMO. I used to love their sound, but after listening to some of their stuff again recently...I just find it dull and uninspiring to listen to.

fat_rob

I'm puzzled too,but if Outkast and EPMD is in the group, then Mobb Deep should.

Outkast and EMPD are >>>>> Mobb Deep, As for balck thought any one wo has seen the roots on concert knows how good he is, plus don't forget Malik B and Razel as well.

Outkast isn't that much better than Mobb Deep IMO....

Prodigy in his prime>Andre 3000, Havoc>>Big Boi, Havoc Production>>>Kast's production....only saving grace for outkast is they had much better and more creative song ideas.

Ehhh,I dunno about that.

When it comes to production, they're neck and neck.

Wu-Tang Forever was PWNAGE! And Solo albums could basically be considered group albums, since every member was in alot of them.

ATLiens is the best Outkast album. Sorry, it's the best album from the south, period. imo: 36 Chambers > Liquid Swords > Ironman > OB4CL > ATLiens > Wu-Tang Forever lmfao, 4 Wu-Tang albums better than any album from the south, that's saying a lot . And ofcourse, Wu-Tang > Outkast Heltah Skeltah > Outkast Organized Konfusion > Outkast Mobb Deep > Outkast. Easily shows how much of a flop the south is  UGK

Yea... you craysee if you think Heltah Skeltah > Outkast. Nocturnal was only interesting for the first half and Leflaur Leflah Eshkoshka, and Magnum Force has a handfull of good songs, but it just "ok" overall. SPCFM and Aquemini are insane.

I guarantee The Beastie Boys will be top 3WorstGameEver

Wrong:P They ended up like #11. In the video they decided Beasties were influential, but more punk/rock than hip-hop.

If any of you bothered readin' my post you would have seen why Beastie Boys didn't make it so why Gang Starr and The Roots :|

http://www.mtv.com/overdrive/?name=news&id=1553119

Giangio

Your post that said it has to have more than 1 MC? But the Beastie Boys are 3 MC's and 1 DJ... who have been getting down with no delay. >_>

I had the link in it.

Videos on MTV don't work in Canada. They hate us that much lol.

That sucks. The debates they have in the videos are pretty interesting. They know more about hip-hop than what a lot of the complainers in this thread give them credit for.

wu-tang had only one great group album imo, outkast had 3.

Wu-Tang Forever was PWNAGE! And Solo albums could basically be considered group albums, since every member was in alot of them.

They had a debate about that if you watch the video. One guy said only albums with the label "Wu-Tang Clan" across the top should be counted, and some other dude said that albums like OB4CL had RZA production with Ghostface rapping half on it, etc. so those were pretty much Wu albums as well.

What I don't like about MTV's reasoning for leaving off the Roots due to them not having 2 MC's....is that the Roots did have 2 MC's most of the time on their best albums. Black Thought and Malik B are on Illadelph Halflife, Do You Want More, Things Fall Apart, Game Theory....

Agreed. I even put Hash onto Heltah Skeltah and remember when he said they were wack too. Outkast is better than Heltah Skeltah and Organized Konfusion, and this is coming from a person who is a big fan of both and put most of the people in OTB onto both groups back when they had never even heard of them before....

Not to mention that this MTV list is about impact as well, and neither Heltah Skeltah or Organized Konfusion's impact comes close to what Outkast has done.

I agree. Outkast are the guys that put the SOUTH where it is now. NWA are the guys that put gangsta rap on the map, not to forget Dre, Easy-E, n Ice Cube. Without these guys, you can kiss guys like Em, Snoop, Fiddy, Game, Luda, TI, Jeezy, and Weezy goodbye.

Sorry, it's the best album from the south, period. imo: 36 Chambers > Liquid Swords > Ironman > OB4CL > ATLiens > Wu-Tang Forever lmfao, 4 Wu-Tang albums better than any album from the south, that's saying a lot . And ofcourse, Wu-Tang > Outkast Heltah Skeltah > Outkast Organized Konfusion > Outkast Mobb Deep > Outkast. Easily shows how much of a flop the south is  UGK :lol:Black-Demon

Heltah Skeltah better than Kast? how long you been smokin pcp? i liked nocturnal and all, but come on...that is ridiculous. and Bun's verse on "murder" >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> you

Yea... you craysee if you think Heltah Skeltah > Outkast. Nocturnal was only interesting for the first half and Leflaur Leflah Eshkoshka, and Magnum Force has a handfull of good songs, but it just "ok" overall. SPCFM and Aquemini are insane.

IMHO
Wu Tang (including solo releases?) > Outkast > Mobb Deep > UGK > Organized Konfusion > Heltah Skeltah

Teh kidding?

Organized Konfusion easily ****s all over UGK, and Outkast...

gtf outta here ...outkast has three forbidden>

gtf outta here ...outkast has three classics and is easily the best rap group .... andre 3000 ishes all over pharoah monch as an overrall rapper everyday of the week .... lol . your hilarious. Lakersman2000
I still think Kast has 0 classics...with Aquemini, and SPCM coming ridiculously close.

Pharoahe has far better lyrics than Andre....and edges him out barely in flow, and wordplay IMO...the only thing Andre has going for him over Pharoahe is his impact in the mainstream, because Outkast has always been popular....as an overall rapper, Pharoahe rips him IMO.

Theyre two totally different sounds IMO...cant realllly compare them like for like. But I definately think Aquemini is a classic...and if it isnt, there is one song to blame.... MAMACITA B*****!

Weren't you the one who thought Liberation was a weak song too....

If Mamacita doesn't make Aquemini a cl.assic, the Chinese Arithmetic and Eric B. is on the Cut makes Paid in Full not a classic, Something 2 Dance 2 makes Straight Outta Compton not a classic, Friend of Mine makes Ready to Die not a classic. Sorry but it just doesn't work that way. And Mamcita isn't even that bad. Aquemini = straight up classic.

Word. One song doesn't not make the album a classic...for me, it's an array of songs, that could've been a lot better, or that the album could've done without...I don't like "Mamacita," but I also don't care for "Y'all Scared" or "West Savannah"....I think "Slump" could've been much better too....most of the guest appearances, really hurt the album for me.

And "Eric B. Is On The Cut" is dope 8)

Beastie Boys less infulential then Salt-N-Pepper please, thier music is still sampled in other hip-hop groups and how the hell can you not have the roots? They define oraganic hip-hop and put on the best show in hip-hop music but then agian it is MTV.
