Lil Wayne, Eminem, Lupe Fiasco(I like Lupe, but I don't know why people think he's God), Charles Hamilton, The Cool Kids(Bake Sale was cool, everthing after is pretty bad imo)
Just off the top of my head
so the best you guys can do is list some rappers without ever backing up your opinion?
oh joy, what another great thread
KamMoye
Â
So the best you can do is complain, like you do in every other thread on the board?
Oh joy!
all i'm doing is following the example the OP set
also, could your post have been anymore cliche and unoriginal? step ya game up
KamMoye
You talk cliches yet you post the same thing in every topic

Oh, and I forgot
Eazy E: Untalented, can't write, never dropped a really great album (Eazy Duz It was as close as he got) and he was nothing once Dre and Cube dropped their affiliationToriko42
He's famous cuz of his affiliation with NWA, his distinct voice, his gangsta-ness, and because a lot of people probably don't know that he didn't write his own rhymes.
Also, this.
[QUOTE="Toriko42"]Ready to Die is hit and miss.TheHimura
I'm not gonna lie, I felt the same way a looong time ago. That album grew on me a LOT after really giving it some serious listens. Hopefully the same thing happens to you. :P
The album just really falls off after 'What'Oh, and I forgot

Yup, this is one of the ones I forgot on my list. He's OK, nothing special at all. I don't think he's a legend like most people.

The only problem I have with Game is the fact that some of the things he says are dumb as hell...
"Woke up out that coma 2001, 'bout the same time Dre dropped 2001"
:|
And then there's the name dropping 5 different guys in every song (with Dre usually being one of them), but that doesn't bother me too much.
Lupe Fiasco: Why are people still on this guy's jock? People got so caught up with a decent mainstream artist getting exposure that they now hype Lupe Fiasco up as some great emcee. Dude is the definition of corny. He's like, the christian rocker, or the kidz bop commercial hip hopper. His songs, more often than not cannot be any more boring, or cliche.
Blu/Elzhi: There's only one word to describe both. Yawn. Too many people here love technical emcee's that rely on having great lyrics. The problem with most of these guys is that they lack in just about every other major category musically. Mic prescence, flow, production, topics...all boring.Â
Mobb Deep: lol, I know I'll catch flack for this but I've always thought these guys were boring. Beats all sound the same, topics all sound the same. I've never been a huge fan of the grimey, hardcore production/rapping as it is, and these guys seem to embody it. They actually remind me a bit of Wu-Tang in a sense...the difference being the execution in their albums. Wu-Tang proves to be entertaining, while Mobb Deep just seems boring.
Dr. Dre: I like Dre and all...a lot actually. But I can't place albums like the Chronic, or Chronic 2001 as classics. I think both are ridiculously overrated.

According to the wiki article...Ice Cube wrote it (of course)lol at people jumping on Colt for not liking Lupe. The ones he should be catching the most flack about are obviously Mobb Deep and Dr. Dre.
The Q-Tip beats on the Infamous are easily distinguishable from Havoc's so I dunno how all their beats sound alike...
lol at people jumping on Colt for not liking Lupe.

Nah its just when people say they dont like Lupe lyrically, I question if they heard anything outside of The Cool & F&L.. His unreleased material and his first 2 mixtapes,,
To answer why people like Lupe, for me its the fact that more times than not he's hiding meanings in his verse, craming thought provoking metaphors in his verses and a lot of his metaphors have 2 or 3 meanings.. Especially on his unreleased stuff and stuff not on his albums.. I love both albums but its his other stuff that made him one of my favorite rappers.. On top of his metaphor/punchline/hidden meanings, he has the ability to change up his flow and talk about pretty much anything.. I like ttelling myself "Nah he didnt say that" and go back and be like "Wow, I never thought of that".. His approach lyrically isnt straight forward and it goes over people's head and I like rewinding and googling and figuring out what he means after hearing a song for the 5th time..Thats fun to me..Thats all I want in a lyricist..
I honestly cannot understand how someone that like Wu-Tang, Nas, and Pharoahe Monch can't like Mobb Deep:|-Halftime-And I can't understand how anyone in the right state of mind doesn't like Eminem.
idk how many times I've listened to The Infamous...but each time I get to about track 5 or so, and wish to listen to something else. The difference between them, and every act you listed before is that the other guys excute better....better production, better deliveries.
I just think it's kind of funny that people jumped on me for that one, and not the obvious like Dre, and Mobb. As if those are more understandable to the common hip hop head.Nah its just when people say they dont like Lupe lyrically, I question if they heard anything outside of The Cool & F&L.. As far as Lupe goes, dude is CORNY. Like, beyond corny. Hip Hop has saved my life? He say, she say? Sunshine? Go Go Gadget Flow? What a cornball. Please don't make me post lyrics to these songs, the titles tell enough. I have the stuff hat was supposed to be on the original F&L, but honestly those songs, F&L, and The Cool don't inspire to check out anything else by him. I'll probably get his 3rd album, because there are usually some good songs on there, and his albums are usually listenable...but the fact that anyone even anticipates his albums = lol.
were you expecting Dilla?Colt, you sure you're not missing anyone else from that list? :P
and Lupe is corny....
iHeartCali
Lol @ Charles bein better than Lupe.. Hes not lyrically better than Lu.. The second verse on Go Go Gadget Flow is corny? You can say what you will about his personality and song titles but lyrically hes not corny.. Hes better than a lot of rappers.. ALOT of them..
[QUOTE="-PuLse"]How are you gonna say Lupe is corny than turn around and have a Charles Hamilton avatar and sig? :|IamHushCharles Hamilton has some corny songs, but his dope songs destroy Lupe's best work...
His best work? Theme Music To A Drive-By, Mean & Vicious, Accept The Troubles, Kick Push II, 4 Real, Hold It Down, etc>>>Anything my boy Charles has ever made.. And those arent even Lupe's best songs.. Every verse on those songs is tuff.. Bar for bar, Lu>>>Chuck.. He'll tell you that himself..Â
