Jay-Z's, "The Blueprint," is the best Hip Hop album of the decade? What albums do you feel are missing from the top 100?

The Carter III over Get Rich Or Die Tryin? That's whack!

That list got worse the further down I read. I might even agree that Blueprint is the best hip-hop album of the decade but I'm not sure on that one.

LOL @ an Eminem album being the second best rap album of the decade:lol:

Blueprint is one of the best from this decade, for sure. Dunno if I'd call it number one though. You have stuff like Supreme Clientele, A Piece Of Strange, The Realness, among a lot of other albums, makes it a tough call. Probly the best mainstream rap album of this decade.

Anyone who remotely reads Rolling Stone reviews for Hip Hop albums know they are a group of idiots. They hate Hip Hop, 'nuff said.

Pitchfork:

They don't hate hip hop, they just formulate their opinions of albums based on the hype around them, thus why Carter III is on there.

But looking at that list, it sure has been a sucky decade for mainstream hip hop.

To be honest though, I'll have to say that Funeral album deserves to be up there as well as Kid A. Both are amazing albums. I don't know if they'd be my number ones though or even my top 10s but I can see why they'd put them up there.

@ Toriko: I was listening to Kid A yesterday, and man it's just an incredible ride. I can't imagine how it sounded in 2000. That may be one of my favorite albums, period. atm I'd put it ahead of The Bends, and OK Computer as the best Radiohead albums

As for this list, they ****ed up when they didn't put D'Angelo's "Voodoo" in the top 10.

Kid A is ridiculous, The Bends will always be my favorite Radiohead album since it ran my life back in Grade 7-9 but Kid A is a close 2nd

Idk, I'm starting to dig on In Rainbows a lot...even moreso then The Bends, and OK Computer. Who knows...I need to go re-listen to everything again and make new rankings. I used to dig the Bends the most though.

In Rainbows is sickness to be assured

I don't think I can rate the Radiohead albums past The Bends and Kid A since I love them all just as much, only album I can say I don't like is Pablo Honey

I HATE Rolling Stone, I had a short free subscirtion to him for a few issues and I hated it so much, everything about them sucks. They can't rate music to save there lives and they change there ratings every year it seems like. They gave Kid A a 4/5 when it first came out and some how it's the best of the last decade? So nothing tops over a B-? Don't get me wrong Kid A is a great album but it conflicts with it's rating.

Another problem with this list is (and RS has done this before) they rarely give any attention to electronic dance music. They have one album in this whole list and that's Daft Punk's "Discovery". There were no other amazing EDM albums in the last decade?!?!

I think any publication has the right to change a grade, if it grows on them in a different way, much like we let albums grow on us. At the same time though, Rolling Stone does this way too often. Voodoo received a 3/5 and is 23rd on their list. Too often do we see Rolling Stone giving out intial grades, seeing how other publications rate albums, and then in "best of" lists tend to place those albums in similar positions as other publications.
