I dpn't know the last time,or ever, this board has had a topic like this so i decided to make one. This whole topic is to see who you guys think will be the future of hip-hop in the next year or years. I'll start off with rappers that have been mentioned been alot of people and some you guys may not know.

Wale

DC area rapper who has been out for a good while now. REcently released the video for his single "Nike Boots" and has planned to relaese a mixtpae with 9th wonder in the future. Personally, he is my choice for the next big thing in rap.

Notable Mixtapes:

Paint A Picture

100 miles and running

A mixtpae about nothing

Notable songs:

W.A.L.E.D.A.N.C.E

Ryhme of the Century

ADD pt 2

The Kramer

Kid Cudi-

Hailing from cleveland, rapper KiD CuDi is just now recieng popularity and noterity due to his song "Day and Nite" and his mixtape "A KiD Named CuDi". More of an electronica/singer/rapper than just straight up rapper cudi is entertaining(at least to me) and could make it big in a larger market than hip-hop in due time. Also, he is signed to G.O.O.D music.

Notable mixtapes:

A KiD named CuDi

Notable songs:

Day and Nite

Embrace the Martian

Is there any love?(feat wale)

CuDi Get

Pac Div-

Pacific Division, aka Pac Div, hail from the west coast, and have been out since 2001 but have just now recently started gaining buzz tahnks to thier 2006 mixtape" Pacific divisions Blendtape". Since then Pac div have been building steadily and their album The F.A.T lp should help prove themselves to the masses

Notable mixtapes:

The BlendTape

Notable Songs:

Fat boys 08

Woman Problems

Paper(feat TiRon)

B.O.B-

Representing Atlanta,GA(zone 6 to be exact) B.o.B represents a breath of fresh air that hip-hop could need. Despite sounding like 3 stacks,B.o.B blazes his own trail by being albe to sing, play guitar, play piano and produce,a moder day renissacne man. Recieving most of his buzz off his hit "Haterz Everywhere" B.o.B followed up by releasing two mixtpaes full of songs that are worthy to listen to.

Notable Mixtapes:

Who the F&^# is B.o.B?

Hi! My name is B.o.B

Notable Songs:

I'll be in the sky

Generation Lost

Autotune(funny)

Curren$y-

Curren$y da hot spitta is coming fom the N.O. was once signed with wayne on his Young money label but decided to leave to pursue other things. After leaving he has released mixtpae after mixtape filled with songs. Even though his most notable song is with wayne,"Where da Cash at", hot spitta has proven he can hold his own.

Notable Mixtapes:

Higher Than 30000 feet

Fin...

Fear and Loathing in New Orleans

Independence Day

Feel free to add people with theie notable songs and releases to hopefully put some people who didn't know about them on. The reason i didn't do Blu is becasue even though he is new he already has 3 CDS out,not mixtapes. And Below the heavens is dope and evryone knows that.

Because (especially with the internet) word of mouth means nothing? Naive? I don't have anyone to list, but I'm keeping an eye on Che Grand...just in case.

Then who is the future Hash? Enlighten our "naive" minds with your oh-so-superior knowledge :|.

The rappers listed ^ are most likely going to be the ones who people are putting out music and being talked about in the next decade... How are they not the future...?

You have no idea who the future is, but you know everyone who isn't. Check your logic. How do you look right now? Spending a little too much time bumping the albums in the classic thread, I guess.

Wale has gradually been getting more mainstream. Back in 2006, I heard about him from someone who knew him, because I lived in the DMV. That was how smalltime he was. I didn't see his mixtape on acquiring sites, I didn't hear about him on TV, I didn't see his ish on Itunes, a dude I personally knew told me his friend could spit. Now where do I hear about him? Myspace, Itunes, quite a few major hip-hop sites, music channels, and radio stations way outside of D.C.

The dude is blowing up. In another two years he will have dropped an album, which will probably sell decent, and will start building a pretty big fanbase. I mean, I live in Jordan (all the way in the Middle East), and most of my friends have almost all his mixtapes. I think everyone of them except for two or three have atleast 1. And I only told about 4 people here about the dude. He is getting big. I mean, he is putting out fire tracks with Pusha T, Bun B, Lil Wayne, and tons of other big names, and he probably wont drop an album for another two years. Wale is going to be someone to look out for in the future. He may not be the dopest dude out there, but he is going to be one of the rappers that has a solid foundation and fanbase when the next decade starts.

Only person in that list I can picture blowing up is Curren$y,and thats only because of his guest appearance on Lil Waynes mixtape. Everyone though Joell Ortiz,Rhymefest, and other new artists were going to be something and I haven't seen anything yet:? Nowadays in rap its not about the talent anymore, its about who you know if you want to sell (hence everyone putting Wayne on a track to go from gold to platinum lmao). Sad,but teh truf.

lol please...this dude is gonna get Saigon'd to hell...He JUST dropped a video for Nike Boots...that song is hella old...he got no buzz of any of his recent material so he dropped a video for the only song that got him some buzz (WALEDANCE flopped) and that is mainly due to Wayne being on the remix. Wale ain't going anywhere... DC Hip-hop

yo ,i really dug Say yeah. And fat-rob the difference i can see between saigon, papoose and others and wale is that wale is already breaking into the mainstream in other ways beside music. He is sponsered by levis and LRG,has a song on madden and has a good work ethic. I agree nike boots video couldv'e came out earlier but i still dig it. wAle is teh future and i see you have yet to mention anyone for your own opinion. You guys cannot live in the past an donly listen to 90's hip-hop and expect to be blown away by one person. Start listening to good rappers that are out now and are tyring to breakthrough. Waht is the diffirence between wale and a southern artist trying to breakthrough when the west coast and NY dominated the market, nothing. Both are trying to expose music that is being underapreciated.

lol my playlist is pretty much all new music...I haven't listened to anything pre-00's in months...I just don't think any underground artist will be part of rap's mainstream future. Oh, and Papoose had a song on Madden too...that doesn't mean jack anymore...hell Joell Ortiz had a song on madden and so did Murs...

the song on madden wasn't the best point, but he at least is making moves. Why wouldn't he blow up? he is representing an area not really represented in rap. I reall ydon't understand, break it down for me

But seriously, these rappers determine their own future. If these dudes "almost" make it that's their fault, not ours. Just because we say these people have potential doesn't mean we're over here stating for a fact these men are going down in history :|. I don't see what you aren't following.

Nope, P.Casso over all

Yo, P.Casso is dope...but again, claiming an artist like him will be the "future" of hip-hop is a stretch...I mean, there can only be so many Lupe Fiasco's in the mainstream that go gold...and Lupe had a SMASH hit with superstar and that is the ONLY reason he went gold. Does P.Casso have any mixtapes?

Dude might could break into the mainstream if he ever does a song with Wayne... I saw a video on HHDX that showed Wayne saying he wanted to work with Jay or something like that. (he probably only heard of him because he's from NO  but still...)

Dude might could break into the mainstream if he ever does a song with Wayne... I saw a video on HHDX that showed Wayne saying he wanted to work with Jay or something like that. (he probably only heard of him because he's from NO  but still...)

yea and He also produced on Nas' Untitled

That beat sucked so much (Queens Get the Money).....

I've been meaning to listen to it one day but never got around to it... thanks for the info though. From what I've heard, Jay's a pretty nice producer but honestly I've only heard a few songs by him so I dunno for shurrrr.

It's all about Guilty Simpson.

People are making me a little mad with all this wondering and worrying and wining about the future and the status of hip hop. Sound a lot like some guys at record shows I go to sometimes where they always being acting as if the 60's or 70's where just the greatest time in the history of the world.

EDIT: Where can I get that Kid Cudi mixtape?

Coming out of the N.O. Jay electronica is really a different kind of rapper,or jsut musician period. His production is usually percussionless and his ryhimg sytIe is uncomparable. Bursting on to the scene with his release ofAct 1: The Eternal Sunshine (The Pledge). With co-signs from NAs,Just blaze and Erykah Badu JAy should have a promising future in hip-hop.

Man, Hip Hop is dead and it will be VERY hard for a new artist to break into the mainstream...last time I remember somebody broke into the mainstream was T.I and Lil Wayne, and that was like 4 years ago.

Now days everybody listens to Techno, Electronic or House...you can see it by the numerous mohawks people be sporting now days.

Wouls you consider Plies as another rapper that is breaking in the mainstream??? :? I think is fair :/Â
