Wu-Tang Clears First Ever Beatles Sample, Delays Release of 8 Diagrams

In a surprising coup, the Wu-Tang Clan has obtained the first Beatles sample clearance ever issued for a new track on their upcoming LP, 8 Diagrams. In a blog posting on their MySpace page, the crew announced the victory and also mentioned that the release date for the LP has been pushed back to December 4 from its previous date of November 13. The sample in question is from the Beatles track "My Guitar Gently Weeps," which the Wu is covering on 8 Diagrams. According to previous reports, the Wu version will include contributions from Dhani Harrison, son of late Beatle band member George Harrison. Interestingly, in addition to Dhani and The Harrison Estate, the Wu blog posting also thanks R&B artist Erykah Badu for helping to bring the track to life.
