I've only gone as far as question one and, as a Roman Catholic with prior education in theory of knowledge, I have studied these kinds of questions before. First of all, the person who compiled this video makes a fallacy BEFORE he even starts asking questions? Being any of those professions except a few (teachers are an exception) does not constitute an expertise in the area of theology, the study of religion, and it's Christian branch. I will admit that if I had been born in Morocco from Moroccan parents, I would probably be Muslim. I also admit that I would be Jewish if I had been born from a Jewish background. This is a fact. I am a Roman Catholic because my family is predominantly Roman Catholic, from a Spanish background. But simply being a Catholic does not make me an expert in Catholicism. Far from it, in fact. The answer to the first question is that God acts in mysterious ways. Christians find strength in God. A cancer can be healed. This is a fact. And I don't mean that it can be healed through religious powers (I have mixed feelings about statements like this). I mean that modern techniques like chemotherapy can cause a cancer to be eradicated. There is no established medical procedure that can 'heal' an amputee. There have been significant breakthrough's: 'donated' arms have been 'attached' to people, and they can function to do basic movements and actions. The maker of this video, here then, makes another fallacy. What if, when Christians say that God can heal cancers, they mean that He guides the patient to his/her 'salvation', I'll call it, or vice-versa (specialized doctors somehow receive knowledge of the cancer victim and decide to help). This thinking can be applied to an amputee, no? I'll watch the rest and make a summary of my thoughts later.

This is a great video because it forces Christians to make all sorts of ridiculous rationalizations for their all-knowing, all-powerful god, like "god works in mysterious ways". To anybody that really thinks about these questions and can still believe in a god, I ask "what emotional need do you have that causes you to delude yourself?", "does the truth scare you?".

So, ummmm, intelligent Christian here:  Where are your questions?

And don't expect me to go to that loser's amazing atheist site or whatever it is.  People have been trying to debunk Christianity for as long as it's been around.  And I'll lay odds on Sts. Augustine, Aquinas, Anselm and Thomas More being slightly more intelligent than the likes of me, you AND the amazing atheist.

Catholics FTW.

Another one, how come religion isn't based on any fact and therefore nobody should accept it as a certainty and just try to live their lives in peace?

Perhaps the Way, the Truth and the Light scares you.  What emotional need do you have that causes you to deny others' beliefs?

What is the truth, to you? Is there evidence that God exists? No. Is there evidence that he does NOT exist? No. This is where FAITH comes into play. Religios people have faith, and this is why they believe in what they believe (this is why I believe in God, because as a Catholic I have faith in God). I don't have any emotional need. As I said before, I am probably Catholic because I was raised as one. I have asked myself if God exists or not before. It is natural to question the unknown. What I don't understand is why the maker of the video himself makes ludicrous assumptions himself. The director states at around 5:00 minutes into the video, that "Why would an all-knowing God write nonsense?" First of all, God did not write the Bible. Jesus himself did not write the Bible. The only person that is unaware of this fact is the director himself. Second of all, it's not nonsense. I am offended at such crude comments. There is no statement in the Bible that claims it is 100% true. Nowhere does it say that everything that occurs in the Bible occured in real life. In fact, when I was in Cathechism class, before I made my Communion (when I became a part of God), I was taught that one SHOULDN'T take the Bible's stories as literal happenings. Instead, they serve as examples to teach lessons. IF you read verses, they have an overall idea. Do not kill. Do not steal. Do not use the Lord's name in vain. This sort of thing. This video did not force me to make any "ridiculous rationalizations", actually. I can rationalize every question with an appropiate answer that is not ridiculous at all. I have already 'rationalized' the first in my first post, so I'll do this for all other questions. Question 2: Why are there so many people starving in the world? I can rationalize this question with another. Why are there 793 billionaires in the world? Did God make them rich? No. God did not force these people to starve. Prayer is not enough. God is omnipotent in the way that he is all powerful. I have already described in my first post how this is not literal, and the answer to this question is explained in my first post (I will not write it again as I am tired). Question 3: Why does God demand the death of so many innocent people? God has never stated this. The people who wrote the Bible stated this. Theoretically, God demands that we all die, as we are all born under sin. We must repent our sins to be forgiven. This is one of the reasons Jesus sacrificed himself. He did so to save us from sin. He took our punishment, and He suffered for our sins. Question 4: Why does the Bible contain so much anti-scientific nonsense? I answered this in the first part of this post. Question 5: Why is God such a huge proponent of slavery? As I said before, He did not write the Bible. Humans wrote the Bible. God's words can be confusing. Also, who can truly say that the people who wrote the Bible did not slightly include their own thinking into it? This is one of the main arguments to why the Old Testament and the New Testament have so many differences. Why God seems to be more 'nice' and 'caring' in the New Testament. This is because the period it was written on was a different time than the period the Old Testament was written in. Question 6: Why do bad things happen to good people? This question is possibly the worst in the video. He does not define what a bad thing is, and he does not define what a good person is. An error in logic. This question should have been omitted, as in my opinion he only included it as a filler to have 10 questions and not less. This point is reinforced as he only has any (although rather insubstantial) argument for the first few questions. The last few, he simply states the Christians have to 'create strange rationalizations to defend God'. This argument of his will not win over anyone that is intelligent. Question 7: Why didn't any of Jesus' miracles in the Bible leave any evidence? Like I said before, not everything that is written in the Bible is literal. I believe that Jesus existed. There is evidence of his existence as a man. It is our faith that allows us to believe he was the Son of God, and he carried through all these miracles. Question 8: How do we explain the fact that Jesus has never appeared to you? How would you go about explaining this? Some people claim to have seen Him, most don't. I don't see this as an argument against Christianity. Can people see evolution? No. But do many believe in evolution? Think about it. Both his question and mine are equal in value, as they are value-less. Question 9: Why would Jesus want you to eat His body and drink His blood? I take back my earlier comment, this is the most pointless question in the entire video. In the Bible, does it actually state that Jesus offers His own flesh and blood? No. He refers to His flesh as the meat they will eat, and to His blood as the wine they will drink, in the Last Supper. This is completely symbolic. I would like to ask the maker of the video if he knows what a symbol of something is. I think he is the only one that has lowered to such petty arguments as assuming symbols are to be taken literally. Question 10: Why do Christians get divorced at the same rate as non-Christians? No one is perfect. In fact, most Christians are not devout Christians. Although a Christian has to follow certain guidelines, personal emotions still play a big role in one's life. God would rather you do what will make you happy and repent getting hastily married, than you living a life of unhappiness with a person you don't love, as that would be you doing a disservice to both yourself and your spouse. So there you go, all 10 questions answered.

What do you mean when you say that religion has hurt the world as a who;e? Because some wars begin due to religious conflict? I suggest you actually try to think about that question before you answer it. Simply becase people say it is a religious war does not mean that God (or the deity in question if one is not Christian or Muslim) supports the war. Any rational human being? Are you saying all religious people are irrational? Is this why there are Ph.D graduates with a specialization in theology? Would you consider them irrational too?

See, what you are doing is what is called a "fallacy", or an error in logic. 'Religious' wars are never actually 'religious'. Imagine if the Christian Pope were to say that all of Africa was to be destroyed. Does this mean God himself thinks like this?

nope because he doesnt exist.....but I'll answer it properly

Religions will never be any better than their followers and if their followers are idiots then the religion is idiotic....can you see my point? If the pope were to say that africa was to be destroyed then there obviously is a major error in that religion when it has that many followers.....

Christianity is nothing but a shell of what it once was.......It's nothing like Jesus (yes he existed) imagined it......the bible is ridicolous since its context was chosen by greedy priests who chose the context that would benefit them the most....

What now? You seem to think that posting videos by the same author who, in the first video, assured us Christians that we would start thinking about becoming atheists because of an unresearched video he put up on Youtube. 9 minutes and 58 seconds is not nearly enough to make me realize that my belief in God is delusional. I would pose this question to the maker of the video, employing his own device for arguments. Do you believe in evolution? I assume he does. Can you see evolution happening? No, but you READ ABOUT IT. Don't you read about Christianity? But Christians practice Christianity. In this way, isn't Christianity more real than evolution, as we can see it happening? Of course, I WOULD NEVER employ such petty techniques for argument, because they are filled with fallacies.

I deny such beliefs because religion is extremly harmful to humanity. That's why it's important to me. People kill and discriminate in the name of their god. Plain and simple. If this wasn't true I could care less about what people believe in.

How can you compare evolution to religion as a whole. I don't doubt at all that there are christian people who pray and such, is that what you're getting at? And maybe you should actually investigate things such as evolution instead of just reading about them. The point of that video is to make you think.

People do the same thing for financial game. The Bible hasn't changed, men that misinterprete it and their followers can be to blame for that but hey, it happens in Science all the time.   Global Warming VS Non-Global Warming, welcome to the human-race.

How can you compare evolution to religion as a whole. I don't doubt at all that there are christian people who pray and such, is that what you're getting at? And maybe you should actually investigate things such as evolution instead of just reading about them. The point of that video is to make you think.

I don't know if you read my comment, but I'll quote it for you. "Of course, I WOULD NEVER employ such petty techniques for argument, because they are filled with fallacies." The point of the video is that he is an Atheist that is bent on somehow disproving religion. It hasn't been done by the greatest minds of time. It won't be done by a guy with a YouTube account.

The video doesn't make you think, it's just and emotional rant by someone that feels he has to vent against a group of people that defy his belief system. You have to understand that this has been going on since the days of Christ, nothing new just that YouTube gives everyone a platform.

Precisely.  Thank God the atheists are this "smart," or believers would have real trouble.

Believers FTW.

Generalizations FTW? :?

All I've to say is that there are many incongruents throughout the Bible. Take the story of Cane, for example:

Apparently he was to live out his days as an exile, yet he ended up founding a city. :|

I'm far from religieus. God's word can give a believer strength trough hard time, true. But why do believers seem to be unable to accept a lot of people just because they are a little different? For example, Gay people, people from another culture, people with another skin color, people with other beliefs... The church actually condemns everyone that don't believe what they believe. Also explain me why priests cannot have a woman or can't fall in love? Because they love god??? Seriously explain me, it's just something I dont understand. This might be a funny thing to ask...: If god created the universe... who created god? Where did he come from? another thing: Do you know how many innocent people have been killed in the name of God? Do you know how much of a better place the world would be without religions? You can believe me or not, but I went to a Christian school, I know about the passages in the bible, I know what it contains. But do you know they rejected 5 black students, because it's a Christian school? The funny thing was : They WERE Christians. they just were rejected because of the different skin color. Anyway... if believing in God makes you feel better in your skin, I will respect that.

Hmm....for someone who went to a Christian school you see to have rudimental ideas about what Christianity means.  Wars and hate occur because of human nature.  Whatever reason is given it's because of mankind.  FYI...true Christianity does mean you accept and love all people.

I have nothing against people who don't believe what I believe. I do find it irritating that people misrepresent Christians and their beliefs and then label all of us the same way. Everyone knows that the Bible teaches love and putting your fellow man's well-being on the same level as your own. So when a "believer" does something that goes against this, people act like that's what Christianity is about.

The who created God question has been asked millions of times on these boards, same as what happend before the "Big Bang" question. Bottomline: human knowledge is limited, we can only believe things that are beyond our knowlege.

The church believes certain behaviors enslave people's lives and separate them from God but nothing is beyond forgiveness. They welcome people but encourage change.

First off, I'd like to state that I'm quoting Drucom because he was nice enough to post these questions.  I am responding to the questions, not to Drucom.

What is the truth, to you? Is there evidence that God exists?drucom
Yes.  If super-atheist had ever gone to college, he would have learned any number of theories on the existence of God, including the Ontological Argument.  Don't expect me to teach atheists at no cost.  They can go to school and pay for it like everyone else.

Question 2: Why are there so many people starving in the world? + 6: Why do bad things happen to good people? + Question 10: Why do Christians get divorced at the same rate as non-Christians??drucom
This is easy.  It's another philosophical concept called the Problem of Evil.  Again, I'm not going to teach you it, just letting you know.

Question 4: Why does the Bible contain so much anti-scientific nonsense???drucom
Like Drucom said, how are you going to prove or disprove any of this?

Question 5: Why is God such a huge proponent of slavery???drucom
I get the feeling this guy is just reaching.  The Jews were enslaved while in exile.  Did God want this?  No.  See:  Problem of Evil.

Question 7: Why didn't any of Jesus' miracles in the Bible leave any evidence???drucom
Two millenia is a long time for physical evidence to remain.  Sorry that the fathers of the church didn't rush those relics into hyperbaric chambers.  Oh, that's right, they didn't exist.

Question 8: How do we explain the fact that Jesus has never appeared to you???drucom
This is silly.  It's a matter of faith.

Question 9: Why would Jesus want you to eat His body and drink His blood???drucom
I don't know.  Ask Him.  I happen to be one of the people who takes this literally.  And even if you take it as symbolic, well, it's still a silly question.  It's an article of faith yet again.

To summarize:  Go to school and get an education, naysayers.  If you don't believe, you'll at least have an idea of why some people believe and why their position is no less valid than anyone else's.

Deep.  So there it is.  You've disproved Christianity (?).

As if it were so simple.  Simple argument for the simple minded, anyway.

I am not a true Catholic in the sense that I was taught and believe that the Eucharist I recieved were only symbols of his blood and of his flesh. It's part of the Catholic Church's practices that, to be a definity Catholic, you have to literally believe that they are truly his flesh and blood. In this sense, I am not a true Catholic. I still do believe in God and I often thank him for many of the things that happen in my life. BranKetra, you mispelled 'CAIN'. If you can't even spell his name right, what credibility do you have? BTW ACESandEIGHTS FTW, man. You know your stuff. These days, being religious is HARDER than being atheist.
