My research points towards that it is an ORIGINAL movie! No Godzilla, no Cthulhu, no Power Rangers, Voltron, Ghost Busters, Gamera, Donkey Kong, none of that. I think everyone is overanilyzing. The monster is from the sea, check out the history page on the Slusho website, it tell you everything! The whole history section is a metaphor for the plot of the movie as well as the monster's origin!

First off we're not even 100% if that Slusho site is even connected and it's already been said that it's an original movie.
