[QUOTE="sSubZerOo"]Yeah like I said I wouldn't care for daily mail.. But this isn't the only incident.. I posted a article from CNN earlier showing how they lashed a 75 year old woman 40 times, gave her 3 months in prison and expelled her from the nation for being in the house with two unrelated men.T_P_O

Yeah, fanaticism sounds like it currently is a problem in those types of States. Shame really.

Actually Saudi Arabia is the worse.. Nothing even comes close to Saudia Arabia, perhapes maybe regions with in Afghanistan.. But even then thats due to Taliban control, and not government.. The boogiemen of the Middle East like Syria and Iran are far more progressive then Saudi Arabia..

.. Yes racist.. You stereotyped a whole population of people.. And you call them barbarians.. How is this any different from any other country out there that is more or less a undeveloepd country? Arabs do not have a monopoly on it.. Nor are they genetically predisposed to have the current state of their nations.. Alot of it has to do with colonialism and imperialism.. Saudi Arabia for instance is a fuedal system on life support by countries like the United States which we get oil from.

Nice defense of a girl getting whipped 90 times also good defense of a woman getting killed if she is raped your right they are just a feudal society No actually they are an evil society based on the false assumption that allah exists.

Where was I defending this.. You stereotyped a whole population, by your logic why do you care about this girl what so ever? She is a Arab like them, and you said earlier that you wish they would just disappear.. Secondly, now your being prejudice towards Islam, this would be like me being prejudice towards Christianity in using the most extreme example of Christian communities and the terrible things they have done.. Saudi Arabia is more or less the most extreme government within the region.. And alot of it has to do specifically with the United States, which are basically funding a drug addiction in continuing a highly ineffective, oppresive, and primivite fuedal system, in exchange for oil.

what positive influence does the arab nations, have on the world....None. You can't deny that they only have a negative influence with terror and horror stories like this one so Would the world be a better place without them... Yes. Please tell me what good has come from there besides oil. let me rephrase my previous statement I think the world would be better off if Arabs had a single once of compassion toward there own people (at least)

its funny that we object to this, thinking Western culture is all better and stuff, but two things to consider:

1. its their culture

2. If our parents did that when they were young, their teacher would have paddled them and hit them with a ruler. Granted, a small whip causes a lot more harm than some spanking on the knuckles or butt, but corporal punishment is still corporal punishment

As much as these cultures appear to be backwards, I always feel biased and self-centered by thinking that other cultures should follow our western model.

Actually I have not googled a single thing, I actually study the history of this region mainly after Napoleanic wars.. Though I have studied alittle in Dark ages and High Middle Ages.. And I just pointed out that Europes interaction with the Middle East during the Crusades helped create a intellectual renneniance with philosophy, unique writings, and scientific discovery.. You seem not to understand that your logic has basically fueled the kind of racism and the liek.. Afterall what have blacks done? Native Americans? Eastern Europeans? Asians? Where exactly is there a objective critique of each culture, when each and every culture is fundamentally different..

exactly my point.

hell, I was spanked as a child. As I said earlier, thats far from being flogged, but its still physical punishment. More importantly, I knew was going to be spanked, just like these Saudis know theyre going to get flogged. That sort of lessens the phsycological impact a "suprise" flogging might have. You know you deserve it, so you take it.

As far as culture, we just need to respect our differences. I dont like the idea of flogging/lashing people, but thats their system.

Saudi Arabia is not a good example.. It has more in common with 16th century Europe then alot of its Middle Eastern nieghbors... Nations like Syria and Eygpt for instance are by and large secular nations.

Extreme example of what? sharia law? every country ran by sharia law acts similarly. Egypt,Jordan and even syria are secular countries....It's not even comparable. we have theocracies on one hand (Iran, the taliban regime, saudia arabia etc.-all scare the crap out of me) and secular reasonable states on the other.

I seem to have misworded it I specifically said that if its their culture Saudi Arabia is a EXTRMELY poor example.. The only region that even comes close is the Taliban held areas.. Iran in comparison is quite tame/progressive compared to Saudi Arabia.. While like you said places like Syria and Egypt are for the most part secular with extremely small religious laws (I believe the one Egypt still has is the marriage status laws)..

This is why I hate Sharia law, brutal bias against women plus the painful punishments dished out.

Vesica_Prime
"Brutal bias" against women. Have you studied Sharia law at all? Women are allowed to be judges, and their testimonies trump that of a man's testimony in court in some cases. What you're seeing here is a gross corruption of Sharia law.

I get it you studied alot of locations on your dungeons and dragons game board,

Very mature, trying to insult me won't some how make your pov any more agreeable..

I have no problem with that. its a cultural racism nothing to do with them being a different race.

Yet you specifically said Arabs, the arabic people are considered more or less a ethnicity.. Perhapes you should be clearer next time..

if they were white and were doing the things they were doing I would feel the same.

And you still would be completely ignorant of the whole situation over there.. Alot of the instability has to do with the fact that of the collapse of the Ottoman Empire of 1918, and the colonialism and imperialism that ensued since fromt he West.. Put in perspective Great Britain. The last MAJOR government change was with the Norman Invasion some thousand years ago.. Since then it had taken them at least 500 to 600 years to get them any where that we could remotely recognize them.. Many of these nations and states have had less then 70 years to do so.. And are hounded on all sides by instable and hostile factions, along with the west constantly meddling with the affairs of the Middle East.. ARE YOU AWARE.. That Iran's current state has alot to do witht eh United States? During 1953 MI6 and the CIA overthrew the DEMOCRATICALLY elected leader of Iran and installed the brutal, corrupt and incompetent dictator the Shah? That lasted towards 1979 in which religious extremists took over, which had alot to do with the Shah erradicating all other bases while ignoring the religious extremist clerics gainig popularity.

I believe that there actions are inexcusable in alot of cases regaurdless of there lack of moral abiguity.

Their actions? You mean the governments? You make it sound like this is a done by a majority when it is not.. It is usually always done by a select minority.. Saudi Arabia is controled completely by a extremely strick family system.. There are many people who have clamored for reform but there is not much they can do if they are imprisoned, tortured, expelled for saying anything aginst them.. Syria for instance is controled to this day by a minoritiy gorup, the Alawites (spelling?).. So yet again your explaination has proved nothing in showing that your views are not ignorant, and highly prejudice.. While at the same time trying to comedically insult me.. Next time try to please study the issues and history of the region, there are many problems there and alot of it has nothing to do with the radically majority of them who live there.. I would think many of the residence of the region saw your opinion would be insulted and find it completely ignorant.. If your going to have sucha strong opinion on the matter.. Educate your self.. I suggest you read things by Monte Palmer who has shown to be a expert in the history of the Middle East (especially in the past 200 to 300 years), and modern politics of the region.

The man who formulated the spherical trigonometry law of cosines--which was/is extensively used in navigation--was an Arab. That's only a sliver of how much the Arabs contributed to science.

And alot of it has to do specifically with the United States, which are basically funding a drug addiction in continuing a highly ineffective, oppresive, and primivite fuedal system, in exchange for oil.

ghoklebutter

what positive influence does the arab nations, have on the world....None. You can't deny that they only have a negative influence with terror and horror stories like this one so Would the world be a better place without them... Yes. Please tell me what good has come from there besides oil. let me rephrase my previous statement I think the world would be better off if Arabs had a single once of compassion toward there own people (at least)

The man who formulated the spherical trigonometry law of cosines--which was/is extensively used in navigation--was an Arab. That's only a sliver of how much the Arabs contributed to science.

Im about bored of this conversation thanks for those bikini pics you sent me though;)

Ridiculously unjust, but I do believe she knew there would be pretty harsh consequences there for assaulting the principal...

Wow...Saudi Arabia needs to get out of medieval time. They don't allow women to drive either, like if it was against religion or something, cars didn't exist back then.
