So you worship Greek gods? Interesting.

Anyways, no need for religious arguments here. Let's try and stick to the topic at hand.

YUP :D I agree lets get back on topic

So I guess Disney's "Hercules" changed your life around, huh?

Yeah, but seriously I don't think any one man has the right to sentence someone to death or kill another person.

C'mon people, don't turn this into a thread about religion...did you read the OP's post? O_O

We have plenty of religion threads on OT. We don't need a religious debate in a thread like this. Just saying.

If the girl's mental state becoomes catatonic (which could very well be the case) then she'll be trapped in her own personal hell for the rest of her life, unable to bring herself to interact with anyone and constantly reliving the horrific source of her trauma for the rest of her life.

I'd rather be dead.

THE_DRUGGIE

Acute stress disorder doesn't last for more than four weeks, and PTSD doesn't present itself like that. The whole idea of the "lifetime catatonic abuse victim" is something that only exists in TV land.

I read up on that and yes, that does seem to be more of an entertainment-oriented misconception. Even so, the crime itself and the effects on its victim is worse than a simple murder. At least with murder there is closure. With rape of this magnitude well...Closure seems next to impossible.

There will be closure once everyone involved is put in prison. Even if they get out of prison they'll still have to register as sex offenders which means their lives are effectively over since they won't be able to get work, housing, etc., as well as have their face and name plastered up around neighborhoods and on websites detailing what they did. These guys aren't going to get off easy if they don't get the death penalty. Far from it.

For the record, the only cases where I support the death penalty are in cases of murder where exceptional brutality was shown. Cases such as this (which, infuriatingly, the people involved got extremely light sentences). Otherwise I'm not for it.

Scientology is bologna. But christianity is still concidered a religion and will until the end of time. Mythology, however, is explained in books, on the internet, and many other sources, that it was just a way to explain natural happenings in the world.

That's funny. Someone who believes in an invisible man in the sky, is making fun of another man who believes in multiple invisible men in the sky. Point being, don't make fun of someone else's religion, yet continue to believe yours. You never know, a few thousand years from now, we might be laughing at the fact that, people in the year 2010 still believed that God had a son and that he walked on water once.

EDIT: You can believe what you want to believe, but just don't go shoving it in other people's faces.

every single religion with a creation myth has taken from one another, with a few minor twists.

what does that tell you?

believe whatever you want to believe.

you have the right to do so.

and god (i refuse to capitalize it) may very well be non-existant.

don't bash other people.

"do unto others," isn't that why the good book tells you?

now on to the topic at hand,

this whore should be in prison for life, have her convert to hinduism, and have several more life sentences every time she is brought back.

like seriously.

the people that are in this world...

If you can prove to me that there is an actual entity, I will literally change my stance on faith and religion this very second. I will no longer be agnostic, and will not only believe in God, but acknowlege his/it's existance for the rest of my life.

The same could be said about your religion.

People knew almost nothing about the world when your religion was created too.

Gods can't be proven to be non-existent, or existent.

You can't punish someone by putting them in a cage apartment and feeding themthree times a day. What you do is bust up her legs so they can't be repaired, so everytime she tries to standup or walk the pain will remind her.Cut out her dominate eye and vocal chords.Bust up all of her fingers beyond repair and cut off both of her thumbs.

Tigre_Rivera

And how is that right? You do all that and God will frown upon you for doing those things. He will think you wrong for dissmembering a teenage girl.

Wrong? Who cares about right or wrong? Right or wrong is no longer in the equation. God is vengeful &there is no mercy for the wicked. Don't let it's form fool you. It is pure evil.

When I said it wasn't proven, I was talking about the people researching intothe religions. I believe whole-heartedly that he is 100% real. But they have already proven that those "gods" were storybook characters meant to explain things (sorta like very primitive science). How you can take mythology and turn it into a religion is beyond me.

Of course it's more plausible- now. To be honest, religion is only relevant until science proves it wrong. The only correct attitude towards it is being agnostic. You admit your god has yet to be disproven, but that also means he hasn't been proven. Something can't be a fact, or an "actual entity" until it is PROVEN to be so. You basically just gave me the answer I was looking for in spades.

If religion can't SHOW me that what it says is true, then I have no reason to actually spend my time believing it. Instead, I will contine to live in an agnostic light, and neither deny the existance of god, nor accept that there is a god.

*facepalm*

But your religion was used to explain things too!! I consider your religion to be mythology as well.

1. God actually walked the earth

2. I have a book in my nightstand to prove it

3. Before they showed Disney's"Hercules" the text said "Based on a true story". Hehe, that's not true.

Wow. I hope you're just messing with us. I mean... the book couldn't have been possibly printed and made at a factory or anything...right?

EDIT: This did get pretty damn off-topic... Not my fault though!

That it? You've run out of intelligence so you're reverting to trolling. Pathetic.

So that's your defense when he 1ups you? Cause I've seen this book he speaks of as well, and it's true.
