A painting that was thought to be by an unknown artist and that was sold for $19,000 has been proved to be the work of Leonardo da Vinci.

The current estimate of it's value is "at least $150,000,000".

Lucky buyer, eh?

Here's the story.

And here's the painting ...

When I first heard this I thought "Wow if I was that guy I wouldn't even care how much it's worth! I would have a Di Vinci original!" Upon actually seeing the picture I would take the 150 million. Sorry Di Vinci.

I love how the value of a painting changes dramatically based upon who made it - not just upon how old it is, but who painted it. That doesn't actually make a whole lot of sense if you really think about it. Anyway, I feel bad for all of the people who sold it. Then again, if they have thousands of dollars to be blowing on paintings in the first place, maybe not really.

Well of course that Ganz woman isn't going to admit that she sold a painting at $149981000 below its estimated value.

To be fair, $19,000 is a hell of a lot of money for a painting that ugly. Da Vinci or not, yikes.
