I worked in a shop for 6 years. We judged cars by how many came in with problems... Did not see too many GTI's (rare around here) But there was a **** ton of Volkswagens -especially the Beetle -they were always **** up with major problems -their owners usually had nothing but bad things to say about them This is in no way scientific, but it is enough evidence for me to never buy one. You just notice trends after a while. Just like if I ever buy a GMC SUV or Truck I will get the alignment fixed first thing off the lot -EVERY ONE of them had inside wear on the front tires caused by alignment issues (they say it is from way they are hipped on the trailers)rawsavonWhat can you say about Mitsubishi Eclipses?

They aren't worth the money. They offer no remote spec of performance. You're better off buying a Scion TC or something similar, Honda Civic even. The only Mits even worth getting is a Lancer. And even then..if you don't get the Evolution there's no point.
As far as the OP. That's wonderful, except that if any engine related component on that wonderful GTI breaks...you'll go broke replacing it. The only article I ever pay attention to in any car magazine is the long term tests.

Did not see very many of the newest model or the one before that...says good things IMO -saw a lot of the model before those 2 though -but they are really old now, so probably has more to do with that than anything else Mitsubishis as a whole seem to be pretty good cars as far as problems go -they not on the level of a Honda or Toyota, but still good -better than Nissan IMO (though I like the looks and performance of Nissan better) (Like I said, I just go off what I saw in a Texas town = not scientific at all...don't flame me fan boys)
This is the model that I saw in there a lot...but they are old, so...
(realized post might have been confusing)

Yeah you mean DSMs. Which have more than their fair share of catastrophic problems lol

Glad to know most people are supporting the small amount of 'data' that I witnessed (Eclipse and GTI)Please Log In to post.
