I know a happy ending is the norm for disaster movies. Give the viewers some happiness after all the horror and loss. However, I think the human race would definitly still be screwed over. I mean let's take the assumption that they did have 400k people on those Arks. They said Africa wasn't flooded cause it rose so much. But chances are it did have alot of earthquakes and alot of the land got messed up. How do they expect to feed these 400k people? Not to mention the people that are probably still there to begin with? Not to mention that more than likely 90% of the worlds oxygen producing plants are gone. Humans are still going extinct unless they got some super fast growing crops nobody ever heard of. Also, since Africa raised so high that the southern mountains are now the highest point in the world, wouldn't that change the climate of the continent? I mean the higher you go the less oxygen and the colder it becomes. So even if there was enough plants to make oxygen, chances are they will be wiped out from the intense climate change the country will experience.

You are thinking way to far into this... The simple question is: Who cares? Disaster movies aren't supposed to be "smart" so I see no problem with the ending. Loved the movie for the special effects and the special effects alone.

The movie features John Cusack litterally outracing an earthquake in a car; it's hard to take a movie like that seriously.

I have to admit, the effects in the movie were great. The story, however, was mind numbing.

All I was thinking throughout this movie was how lucky can a family get in a span of two days.

I really love the scene where he's running to get on the plane while Yellowstone is erupting, and the plane takes off pretty much right after he gets on.

John Cusack can run at 40 knots, apparently :P

The ending was fore-shadowed. When the little kid was playing in the water puddle and his boat tipped over and then that one guy said that the Earth's core was going to melt. I put those two together and assumed it would end like it did. Cookie?

That movie was really bad. Why'd it have to be so long? There were so many plot holes in it and rubbish, don't even worry about it.

Dude, it's a movie. If you want to get really technical, there was a scene where they fly a twin-engine plane (was it a Seneca?) away from the destruction. At one point, there's a huge explosion behind them and it reaches the tail of the plane, but they outrun it. If that was real, a huge pressure differential would have occurred slightly ahead of the explosion. When that differential (not quite a shockwave) reached the end of the aircraft, the flow on either surface of the wings would encounter a stagnation point immediately after returning to free-stream flow. Those stagnation points would cause the flow to break from free-stream and follow the surface of the pressure wall in either direction (up and down). That would induce a flow separation and cause an immediate and catastrophic lift stall, and the plane would plummet downward and be encompassed by the explosion. But that didn't happen, did it?

Funny story is I saw all but the last 5 minutes because I had an important place to be, and even so I had no desire to see the end of 2012. Such a horrible movie....

How was it horrible? Disaster movies aren't supposed to have a thick plot and amazing character development. You watch it to see **** get blown up and destroyed, and in that category, this movie certainly delivered.

I agree. As crappy as the movie was, the special effects were stellar. Definitely the type of movie you throw on when you got nothing better to do :P

Even the high-tech CGI to show the ultimate disaster of the earth, this this is not enough to similarize the ultimate disaster that was made by God. God's disaster are ultimately far greater than human imagination that shows the disasters.

A TV show is planned, so there's your answer.

I thought 2012 was kinda sadistic. I was especially angry when Tamara died :/
