Why 'Armageddon', specifically? If the Mayans could forsee the Christian version of the end of the world, wouldn't their other beliefs have resembled Christianity in some way?
I might just be willing to believe this whole Mayan apocalypse thing except for the fact that the date of December 21 2012 on their calander has absolutely NOTHING to do with any apocalypse, armageddon or destructive event of any kind. It's merely the end of one age and the beginning of another much like our own milleniums.
Sorry, I know this has already been commented on but I still don't get why people feel the need to make up ridiculous ideas like this because the actual calender seemed too boring for them. It's just a total lack of respect for another culture's beliefs...
