That is due to them wanting to be reelected next year. If people remember that they voted for the bill to begin with, they will lose their elections soundly, but that is to be seen. The voting public can be really stupid at times.

Obama’s prosecutorial discretion raises questions about executive authority also shows how his declaration yesterday, to extend the old policies for a year might even be illegal according to the law.

People get fed up and discouraged from visiting us when they see separate threads for the same topic within the time frame of what I call page time.

It's what killed OT

If there's a mod online now, please make one obamacare/aca thread and close the other ones.

The time frame of a unit of page time. Which is now even worse given the fact that there may be 50 threads a page. Although Maybe it's still 20 or something less then 50

That's ok, you don't have to worry about OT anymore since you are leaving. Good riddance, either that, stay on topic or feel free to not click on my threads anymore.

Hilarious to see democrats scramble over a bill they never read but voted for. 2014 elections are going to be very interesting.

The issue is the redundancy of OT. Not the thread content. As I said already Obama needs to reap the consequences of his action.

@WhiteKnight77: but even if people do vote them back into office does that mean that they were stupid?

Perhaps they understand the issues at hand and made a decision that was in good faith. I think one of the main issues is that people feel that paying the piper automatically means that everyone should feel the way you feel. That is a simple minded version of the world that takes away people's sense of agency. If people vote back the democrats that does not necessarily mean they didn't hold them accountable. It may just means that they had a different way of assessing the pros and cons of the situation

house approves alot of crap, they have voted to overturn obamacare probably something like 50 times now. Its just a political game that allows people to vote against it so they can win primaries.

Eh, we don't really have enough new threads being made to keep this place interesting tbh. Might as well make new threads.

Anyways, doesn't a veto threat make them fairly safe to do whatever they want?

If Obamacare was a Republican idea (stuff like the mandate was) they'd be defending it to the end. The battle over Obamacare is all bs.

Its amazing how the far right operates the same way everywhere. They use the exact same dumb methods. LOOK EVEN THE OTHER SIDE DOESN'T SUPPORT THE OTHER SIDE. The ironic part is how they think they're being real clever and cunning while in reality they're being the same dipshits they've always been.

How so? Would you rather a person eat for a day or eat for a lifetime? The sandwich analogy fits right in with "give a person a fish, feed him for a day; teach a person to fish, feed him for a lifetime." Would you rather eat for just a day or eat for a lifetime?

Because it grossly oversimplifies the issue.

Not if it's simplified to the point that it's not applicable to reality anymore.

The problem is that people who have low-premium high-deductible policies will be out of compliance under obamacare, which is why their policies are getting canceled. This "fix" only stretches it out for a year, at which point they still will get dropped.

So the both of you are fine with feeding a person for a day instead of that person eating for a lifetime?

Point being that boiling things down too much will make it inapplicable to the situation. Or it SHOULD

Also why is this your response to the posts talking about oversimplification issues. Even if you disagree with the assessment that things are being too simplified to convey the situation in a meaningful manner shouldn't you be making that point instead of just seemingly plugging your ears and asking the question again?

This reminds me about asking how can a question be misleading. You should honesty be able to see how a question can be misleading .
