Do youreally think, that after all this time, no one has already made a topic about this? I mean come on now.
Global warming does not only make the earth warmer it causes greater extremes in the weather. Warmer summers, colder winters.
Yes, because global warming causes earthquakes......markop2003Well I seen a movie about Global Warming called 'The Day After Tomorrow' and it showed it causing tornadoes, hail and ice storms, etc.

that is a day i do not want to live to see.Yea, I'm sitting here in Maui where everyone's awaiting a major tidal wave. People lined up on the roads and pretty much all of downtown closed off. Turned out to be a bigtidal swell. Lame.
But OT, I thought a tenth of a point on the Richter scale was like 10-100 times more powerful. How is it only 49 people died?? 8.8 sounds like death to me, and as I understand it, Chile is not a desert.

Actually, the Haiti earthquake was a 7.0http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/recenteqsww/Quakes/us2010tfan.php I don't believe in global warming (from my experience it's getting colder) but NOW I'll believe there is something going on with the planet. :( EDIT: Adding some more sources. http://www.nytimes.com/2010/02/28/world/americas/28chile.html http://www.seattlepi.com/tvguide/415977_tvgif27.html http://www.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/americas/02/27/chile.quake/index.htmlZerkrender

Rekunta
Because unlike places like Haitti, Chilia is not made out of card-board boxes of concrete, they have to deal with earthquakes consistenly and their buildings and the like are built for those things in mind.
2012, the end of the world is approaching! hence all these wild natural eventsi dont believe in global warming. i just think that the earth is changing. but not because of global warming

Global warming no....but the Bible does preach of an increase of strength and occurance of earthqaukes in the last days....
dackchaar
Then we must of had the end times every year or so since these size earthquakes happen every single year.

Nah man, the bible is write. God told me so.Earthquakes are quite common. Why do you think many cities around the world are constructed to withstand Earthquakes? It's just that with Haiti, due to incredibly poor infrastructure, the effects are much worse than if it happened in most of the other places in the world that's built to withstand them.
Another earthquake?:| This time it was a bigger earthquake compared to Haiti. The world is suffering a lot:(papermariofan57
There have been 8000+ earthquakes today. Chiles I'd assume in the end won't turn out as bad as Haiti's was since Chile is far more well off then Haiti, has past experience, and has far better built buildings compared to Haitis shanty towns.

8,000 earthquakes today..Where did you read that? That's quite impressive. In the city that I live, there was a lot of destroyed buildings, many churches, houses, and the train station are included. Many towns and cities near the coast were devastated and almost disappeared, these include: Iloca, Constitución, Curanipe, Dichato, Tomé, and many others. Bigger cities like Concepción, Talca, Curicó (I live there)and Talcahuano were severely damaged, and some of them have no electricity and water. There are many people robbing, burning and devastating in Concepción, and the help is coming slowly. There are 723 deceased so far, and many people are disappeared, too.

Dude, you might want to think that one over.
Dude. You do realize that the average temps have risen .7C in the past coupel hundred years. Do you really think a .7C rise would make the arctic a dessert climate when the arctic is like -50C? The warmer air allows that air to collect more water vapour. More water vapour means faster concentrations of clouds and greater rainfall/snowfall.And no, Earthwuakes are not due to global warming. Earthquakes are caused by two continental plates rubbing against one another in a strike/slip faultine.
