imagination is pretty much dead in everything nowdays and companies just go for the safe thing to do, copying something succesful, we customers have part to blame too, because we don't give new things a chance

Alot of those movies look good, at least I'll watched them. Also where The Dark Knight Rise that's a sequel.

That list is horribly outdated. Some of these movies have been "in development" for so long, who know if they're actually see the light of day. (ex. Ghostbusters 3, Beverly Hills Cop 4) Others, such as Green Lantern 2 may not even be made, despite earlier reports of the studio stating otherwise. I'll wait for a credible list from one of the Hollywood trade sites.Hallenbeck77

The list is terrible, because some of those sequels are either blatantly obvious, Outdated, (such as Anchorman 2; Director Adam McKay tweeted last year that the studio axed all plans for it), or will more than likely NEVER see the light of day.

There are a few there that I want to see.

I love Zoolander, but a sequel is probably a bad idea.

Indeed the last I heard Bill Murray took the script for Ghostbusters 3 he received from Dan Ackroyd and sent it right back to him after he had put it through a paper shredder of course.

But as far many people have stated already, if you use the fact that you see lots of sequels and remakes on the horizon as some sort of indication of the death of creativity in modern day Hollywood then you're really just emphasizing how little you know about the history of film as this is something that has always been done.

So bummed. Paramount basically passed on Anchorman 2. Even after we cut our budget down. We tried.

To all who asked: no we can't do Anchorman 2 at another studio. Paramount owns it.

So much for that. :(

A few of those movies already came out...

But yeah it's sequel time this year. I still don't understand who the hell gave the okay for Men in Black III.

WOW. That's some list. While I don't like most sequels, some are good if they're in a trilogy and it was planned that way. About half of those I may just stream or something/rent. Some I'll probably go to the theater to see.

I think that two things are at work here. One is name recognition in that people liked these movies so they're wringing every last drop out of them financially even at the cost of that franchise. The second is that they're running out of ideas for new movies. I always knew it would happen one day when all of the twists and ideas stagnate. It's to the point that many action movies, for example, I just don't bother seeing. Like pretty much half of Jason Statham's movies. I like him as an action star, but I've seen so many movies that I know exactly what to expect. Another are those political or ex-CIA operative is hunted types of movies. They're mostly all the same. I love when new things come out that are either all new or basically new. Even a new look at an old movie is good if done right, but just sequeling to sequel at people's expense sucks.
