It's an incredible movie although it is based on the initial American version of the novel which was missing the last chapter for quite a number of years until the early 90s so the ending is a tad more sinister than the novel. Good stuff though and you'll never think of the song "Singing in the Rain" in quite the same way once you've seen it.
I loved it. Die Toten Hosen wrote a song based on it called Hier Kommt Alex which is actually what prompted me to watch the movie and read the book in the first place.
