Aren't mogwai from scotland anyway? :P But yea...uhh, i dont agree with this thread, lets leave it there :)Black Sabbath and Electric Wizard are awesome. America has Sleep though, proving we can rip off black sabbath just as well.
Mogwai are pretty cool, but they've gotten pretty boring. That's not as much their fault as much as post rock just getting boring in general.

Too limiting of a list. England has lots more good bands if you stretch your taste.;)LJS9502_basicIn other words, 'where's The Cure?' :P
Porcupine Tree, Muse, The Cure, Radiohead, Iron Maiden, The Beatles, and sooooooo many others...
EDIT: The Depeche Mode also
Uh... Beatles? Rolling Stones? The Who? You're missing a lot of good bands here. There's tons more... I just can't think of them off the top of my head.vgm007
These, plus The Clash and Black Sabbath. I'm sure there are more, I just don't know the countries of origin of most bands...
*is confused why there isn't Coldplay up there*nintendoman562
No one here likes them, except a few people...
*is confused why there isn't Coldplay up there*nintendoman562I don't disagree with his lack of Coldplay.
Being able to rip of a band dosn't mean the original band is bad :| it means they're better if anythingBlack Sabbath and Electric Wizard are awesome. America has Sleep though, proving we can rip off black sabbath just as well.

[QUOTE="Greatgone12"]Steve Albini's produced a couple of good bands from England, I think. Maybe just Europe as a whole. I can't be bothered to name them, but I'm sure there's a catalogue of all the albums he's ever produced somewhere on the internet.NearTheEndSteve Albini produced almost all of Whitehouse's 90s output. I have it covered. Also, Steve Albini production doesn't automatically mean the album rules. It will still be a lame record, but you'll be able to hear every aspect of the lameness really well. Yeah, but he produces millions of albums, so you can hear all of that **** really well, and chances are, at least one will be good. Then again, he produced Bush.
[QUOTE="jointed"]Ehm, Pink Floyd, Arctic Monkeys, the Cure, the Rolling Stones, the Beatles, Led Zeppelin. You list is terrible.NearTheEndAlready addressed most of those bands, but Arctic Monkeys are about as interesting as watching actual arctic monkeys at the zoo, in the sense that they sit around eating bugs, being cold, and are boring as hell. My list wrecks all those bands. I'd like to have an arctic monkey as a pet. That would be badass.
The Animals
The Beatles (and their solo careers)
Cream (also, Eric Clapton's solo work)
Deep Purple
Elton John
Fleetwood Mac
The Kinks
Led Zeppelin
The Moody Blues
Pink Floyd
The Pretty Things
Queen
The Rolling Stones
Small Faces
The Who
The Zombies
That's my list, at least.
Perhaps your archives are incomplete...(whoeve gets this will be awarded cookies)
YOU SIR, are forgetting two crucial bands in that terribly incomplete list:
1. Possibly the GREATEST band ever, Pink Floyd
AND
2. Iron Maiden
I advise everyone in this thread to get a sense of humor. Anyone who comes into a thread titled "A Complete and Comprehensive List of Good Bands from England" expecting to find some wealth of knowledge probably doesn't belong on the internet. I posted 5 or so bands (that nobody has said weren't awesome) and a goofy paragraph with the intention of having a lighthearted discussion about English music, and how American music compares. Don't get your panties in a bunch when I don't mention Pink Floyd. That isn't what this thread is about.
And with that, let me state, for the record, that I hate Morrissy.
why would you bother??Please Log In to post.
