This is unreal. I'm amazed they didn't call in the security guards to break this one up.

It's got nothing on the classics.blackngold29
my god. that's not a hockey fight. it's a hockey riot! battle of the Quebec teams. Didn't the nordiques become the avalanche?

Yeah. There is one that is better, looking for it now. Canada vs. Russia in some international thing. If you fight in international hockey you get thrown out right away... both teams said meh and cleared the benches. They turned the lights out in the arena to try and stop them.[QUOTE="dissonantblack"][QUOTE="blackngold29"]It's got nothing on the classics.blackngold29

Now THAT's fight. goodness sake.EDIT: Full video without the music
I love the topic title as well. "A Hockey Game Broke out at a Fight." :P
Sky-
How ridiculous. The referees just stood and watched from the beginning, practically encouraging them to fight. Fantastic example being set there to younger viewers.cjekfights are good for the sport. It's been proved it relieves a lot of tension so players can perform better. While i don't necessarily agree with the fighting to releive stress its the reason why the referee's do nothing when a fight breaks out.
Fights are fine. Only one person (Nick Kyprios (SP?)) has ever had their career ended by a fight. For those who don't play hockey, I don't think you understand how ahrd it is to throw punches on skates. The worst thing you can do is break your hand. If they got rid of fights more Bertuzzi-Moore things would happen and that would be bad. As it is now fighting is a good part of the game as it is actually quite safe compared to the rest of the game and the fan(s) love it.

Yes they did.what ever became opf the Winnipeg jets?

Fantastic example being set there to younger viewers.cjekThe referees are not supposed to interfere unless the fight is going no where, or one of them falls onto the ice, then they must break it up.

I think that may have been a Yogi Berra quote. You know it's goofball time when the goalies are fighting with each other.
*sigh*
I wish I was going to a hockey game tonight instead of a Lakers game but oh well.
From now on, all sports shall settle debates like this.if thats the nba, league bans occur and everyone labels them thugs. because its the nhl its fun and part of the game. ridiculous double standard. (also for baseball with dugout clearing brawls.)

These are not fights, these are toy fights.
...and great way to set standards when children are watching. :roll:CBR600-RR
Are you really bringing up the children? Growing up with snow during the winter (by default being in an area with hockey) I can't say that the youth was tainted by hockey fights. At worst there was a crummy fight or one that ruined the momentum for your team and at best it charged up the team and was a game changing moment.

It's allowed as long as one of them doesn't hit the ice, then it gets broken up and they get penalties. Is that actually considered normal in hockey?
I don't watch it at all, but I would have thought that punching somebody in the face was illegal whether in a game or not. The fact the referee was just watching just raises serious questions.

May I ask why you are allowed to punch somebody in the face in a hockey game?

It's just part of the sport? You're allowed to check, and getting checked hurts a HELL of a lot more than a punch does. Please Log In to post.
